With this to be played on it's cassette player.

You knew someone was going to pimp-out a Pacer eventually! :D

A Pacer wagon on the other hand starts looking a bit more normal... I'd drive this car - space in back to cart an amp & bass to a gig.

Yeah, looks more like a bigger, more rounded Pinto wagon. I've seen pics of people making them into really little bed "trucks."

I’ve always kinda been drawn towards wagons and utility vehicles as much as I am sports cars, not a big sedan fan. The Pacer wagon always interested me. Ran across this little oddity the other day and thought it would make an awesome surf or gig gear wagon…

It was really time to replace the old one, it had lasted 29 years, the new one holds snow well and the sound of rain falling on it at night is quite nice to fall asleep to.

Can we suggest a Greco '77 II as a possible surrogate?

I'm a fan of wagons too - my favorite are the "original" style of SUV; station wagon body on a truck frame:

A car like that would be referred to as an "estate wagon". Cadillac made one (and an El Camino-like version) at one point in the late '70s.

I saw this bitchin' wagon at an outdoor car show years ago in South San Francisco, a world renowned hub of custom/hot-rod car culture in the Bay Area. Eric Clapton & Jeff Beck have be seen there as they are both "hot-rod" dudes. It was a prototype Corvette Nomad from '54. (the year after the Corvette first appeared) The one I saw (possibly this one) had been restored with updated rolled & pleated white leather interior. Pretty cool ride.
