I thought it was a great book, it really goes through her life and the whole era well, the factory, the people in it, it has a lot of speed stuff in it of course, very well written and researched book, the writer got a lot of stuff from Edie's older surviving brother, Jonathon. I might even read it again it was so good.

I ordered a used copy and then realized I had it and read it years ago. I didn't recognize the cover - I had the first edition with a different cover. Not sure where I have it if I still do though, (moved recently) and it was cheap so when I get it I'll read it again!

The pursuit (ski cross, snowboard cross) is close.

My vision for pursuit bobsledding (bobsled cross) would be especially entertaining in the 4 man bob. In standard bobsledding, the two guys in the middle are just ballast. In bobsled cross, they could have clubs and actively beat on the other team(s).

I'm working on a concept for figure skating...

I like it!

Skate jousting maybe. Figure skating with maces? You know this would be fun since many competitors hate each other and really like this option.

But can we just not bring back jousting as a civilized sport?

I have a Kindle and buy all my book through Amazon, I'll see a book and think, "That's sounds interesting" go to Amazon and then realize I already have it but haven't read it yet or maybe did read it some years ago. Amazon tells you that you already bought it and on what date, so that saves me some money.

At a freak show, are the freaks on stage or in the audience??

I will refrain from posting a video of the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow. I did see that show with the classic line up of Jim Rose, Bebe the Circus Queen, Bam Bam, Mr. Lifto, Matt the Tube, and The Enigma.

I will say that the Chainsaw Juggling Team is an awesome spectacle to behold.

You just want to pass on a Circus featuring this line up: Jim Rose, Bebe the Circus Queen, Bam Bam, Mr. Lifto, Matt the Tube, and The Enema. Pass if that show comes to town.

yours as well? nice rig…was asking cause I definitely need to re eq my 13 with tapes when noodling at home or playing out live…the TB+ sound terrific with the LaBellas but I need to either cut on the bottom of the E and A strings or crank up the mids to account for the string volume disparity I don’t experience at home…

I've never gone to see WWE (for a lot of reasons), you have my respect (or disrespect ) for enduring it! A guy that I used to work construction go to Louisville Gardens to watch it. The things he said people dead in the stands. I just can't picture old grandmas getting all worked up and spitting on the wrestlers they hated as they went by. Maybe we have a better class of lowlife than you do in Canada. I another guy I used to know was a "referee," but we never talked about it.

When there is demolition snow boarding and skiing I'll be a fan. I actually watch some during the Olympics (likely not this year). Needs to be more like jousting.

This reminds me of my plan to reinvent golf. Everyone on the course wears motocross armor and full face helmets with serious Lexan face shields.

Standard golf balls are shot by golfers from high pressure air cannons mounted in place of golf cart rear seats - at the other golfers and caddies (cum drivers). The golf carts are souped up, basically low end Rat Patrol Jeep wannabes capable of 25-30 mph. Carts must be moving at least 10mph when firing.

Golfers (incl. cart & caddy, duh) are released onto the first tee at one minute intervals, and may drive anywhere on that fairway or green, or 25 yards to either side. Golfers start with a score of par for the course (typ. 72). A point is removed for every hit on another golfer. A point is gained when hit. A golfer is shot out for a hole by 1 head shot, 2 limb/appendage shots, 3 body shots, or 2 body and a limb/appendage shot. Low score once all players have finished the course wins.

[New rule: golfer and caddy each have a THUNDERBIRD they may use to defend against incoming balls. Thunderbird may not be mounted or attached to anything or anyone, but must be wielded by hand. Anyone snapping a headstock is liable for injuries incurred by golfers or caddies, and buys beers for the three closest golfer/caddy pairs, as determined by the refs.]

A golfer may proceed to the next hole upon shooting par for the current hole, upon being shot out for the hole, or when they are the sole golfer on that hole for more than three minutes. Once all golfers are in play, the golfer farthest back on the course may proceed to the next hole at the pace of their choosing, but may not linger more than one minute per hole with no other players.

This reminds me of my plan to reinvent golf. Everyone on the course wears motocross armor and full face helmets with serious Lexan face shields.

Standard golf balls are shot by golfers from high pressure air cannons mounted in place of golf cart rear seats - at the other golfers and caddies (cum drivers). The golf carts are souped up, basically low end Rat Patrol Jeep wannabes capable of 25-30 mph. Carts must be moving at least 10mph when firing.

Golfers (incl. cart & caddy, duh) are released onto the first tee at one minute intervals, and may drive anywhere on that fairway or green, or 25 yards to either side. Golfers start with a score of par for the course (typ. 72). A point is removed for every hit on another golfer. A point is gained when hit. A golfer is shot out for a hole by 1 head shot, 2 limb/appendage shots, 3 body shots, or 2 body and a limb/appendage shot. Low score once all players have finished the course wins.

[New rule: golfer and caddy each have a THUNDERBIRD they may use to defend against incoming balls. Thunderbird may not be mounted or attached to anything or anyone, but must be wielded by hand. Sounds like pure mayhem!

It’s pretty amazing to see just how much damage a golf ball hit with a standard golf club can do. As a senior with a shot back I’m by no means a power player, but if I get hold of the ball I can drive it up to 300 yards. A couple of weeks ago I was attempting to cut the dog leg and drive the green on a par 4 hole. Ended up hitting tree pretty hard about 200 yards out. Looked all around the tree for my ball, but couldn’t find it. My golf partner finally spotted it, embedded in a pine tree trunk about 6 feet up. If that had hit someone in the head it could have killed them.

Blood sport! With the right safety equipment I’m in!
