Thunderbird Club

Never had a Gibson Thunderbird bass yet... maybe some day. But I did have some fun creating my own Nikki Sixx "White Bird" out of an Epiphone limited edition custom shop bass. Doing some cosmetic work along with a swap to EMG for better tone. I also made sure not to remove the neckplate and rear headstock stamp so nobody will think that I am trying to scam or create something that it isn't. Of course I also can't ever sell it as nobody would want this clone either. I just couldn't do this to a Gibson. Someday I will get a real TB and join the club but just wanted to share the fun I had when I made this bass years ago and still have it :

Very cool Tbird!
Eppi birds are every bit as much a Tbird as Gibson Tbirds. They all bring something unique to the table and the Eppi birds are such a great bargain right now. I love the knobs you put on that, tell us more about those.

Bring an armed guard with the Bling Bird so we aren't tempted to fight over who takes it home! 8^P.
LOL - I’d just be tickled pink to have a few good bass players run it through its paces and get back to me on what tone changes they’d make if it were theirs.

@BklynKen After having the SIT Powersteels on the '06 for a while, I put LaBella black tapes on it, partially because they look good, but they do sound good as well. I put the SITs on my '71 Jazz and got to use it today. Sounded great! And, I've only found one string on that bass that I liked much (GHS Precision flats), but the SITs will be on that for some time to come. Big and punchy.

Great news! I just put a new set on my Thunderbird about an hour ago. Gig on March 5.

plenty of arable soil round here…bring some watermelon seeds..

When I was a kid I went to the local movie theater to see "Day of the Triffids" and each kid was handed a small pack of salted sunflower seeds packaged as "Triffid Seeds" - We were pre-teens but we still knew they were only sun-flower seeds!

When I was a kid, we went to see Mr. Majestyk.

Oh the humanity!

No-one said anything about it being a costume party... except maybe V...

It's come as you are, for me, that'll be wearing a dress of some kind - I'll have a '76, it'll need one of Chucky's big amps to sound good.
