Time for our annual RRHOF Bashing

They should either rename it Music Hall of Fame, or make a new one. That would end all of these debates.
The Zombies strike me as a one hit wonder with a limited impact on music overall.
I have no idea who Roxie Music is.
I think Radiohead is highly over rated, and the average person could name exact one song theirs.
Stevie Nicks as a part of Fleetwood Mac made far more of an impact on music than her solo career. Again, kind of a one hit wonder.
Janet Jackson; sure. Not rock, but whatever.
Def Leppard; they were one of those bands that helped MTV blow up, and Woo-Girls everywhere still love Pour Some Sugar On Me. They haven't done anything since then, but fine.
The Cure; I guess they will always be perennial favorites for the mopey, pastie, eye liner crowd. Not my bag, but I can at least name a few songs of theirs.

You don't know a lot about a lot.

Most of who gets in is crap. I'm not offended by it, but it annoys me when someone like Stevie Nicks, who did her best work with a band that's already in, gets inducted as a solo artist.

Def Leppard getting in while Judas Priest are out, etc. is par for the course. The Cure were actually a big omission until this year. It cracks me up that they bother to have hip hop if all they're gonna have is Run-DMC and LL Cool J. Eric B and Rakim have been out 30+ years.

Todd Rundgren was finally nominated this year but not inducted.

What I don't get is that many acts that started in the 1980s and 1990s are already inducted and numerous, well deserving acts from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s have never even been nominated.

This is a travesty. Off with their heads! Todd not in.. *** is wrong with those guys.. he should be in on slut alone.

I love Radiohead.

But...

... geezus, how many other deserving rock-n-roll artists deserve to be inducted BEFORE Radiohead is even considered? It's sad how so many influential rock artists will never make it in while they're still living.

The RRHOF is merely a personal favorites list put together by Jann Wenner and his cronies... and if you believe that it's anything other than that, you're a fool.

I am not the world’s biggest Stevie Nicks fan or anything, but factually speaking her solo career is much bigger than most artists’ careers in total. Edge Of Seventeen, Stop Dragging My Heart Around, Leather And Lace, Stand Back, If Anyone Falls, Whenever I Call You Friend with Kenny Loggins- all huge hits. six top 10 solo albums, 30 million albums sold outside Fleetwood Mac. Yes, it’s been a while since she was the hot new thing, but her last solo tour sold out Madison Square Garden. Bit of an icon, as those things go.

And Green Day made it before these artists? The RRHOF is way to small for all of the artists that belong in there.

2019 inductees just announced:
Radiohead
Janet Jackson
Def Leppard
The Cure
Roxie Music
The Zombies
Stevie Nicks

Personally happy to see The Zombies recognized. Don't understand the Janet Jackson decision. Never a huge Radiohead, Cure, or Roxie Music fan, but OK. Could go either way on Nicks.

Discuss.
HOF is for old bands right? Has Bill Haley and the Comments been inducted? The Guess Who really needs to be in there..

I'm a fan of both bands, but I can see why the Hall would put Def Leppard on the ballot and not Iron Maiden, and it's simple: Def Leppard has a higher profile and more name recognition with the mainstream audience. They can put Iron Maiden on the ballot, but only a small percentage of voters, people like you and me, musicians and metal fans with more discriminating tastes, would vote for them. They would likely sit on the nominee list, never inducted, for decades.

It is in a way a popularity contest, and again, not really a true indicator of anything of substance. It is an extension and microcosm of the subjective nature of the arts, and fairness is not a criteria.

Black Sabbath is inducted, and its probably less mainstream than Iron Maiden.
