Would these be similar to D'Addario Flex Steels?

Time to switch to Dunlop Super Brights!!!

I've used both on the same bass. They are more alike than different IMO - bright upper mids, tight bottom. The Dunlops are growlier and the FS have a nice clear ping to the sound. I found something about the feel of the Dunlops more inviting however. The Flex steels are nice though - I may try them again at some point.
Can't order to Canada? I've had 2 Marcus Millers & 4 SBs shipped to me. PM me if you need details - I can't imagine it would make a difference that you're in Manitoba and I'm in Ontario.
Cool. I was just looking at bass strings online re the Dunlop strings. Haven't checked at L&M or anything yet.
Where are you getting yours from? I'm curious about these Dunlops!

I had a beta set of the new D'Add strings on for less than a week- enough time for me to give them a thorough trial. Meh.
When I reunited with the SB nickels (cue music), everything was right again. Feel, balance, tone. Darn good strings!

Yeah I haven't heard much good about those NYXL D'Addario's so far. Certainly nothing that would make me spend $35-ish for a set!
BSO and others U.S. retailers are absolutely not allowed ship Dunlop strings to Canada. I had a dozen sets shipped to me in the U.S. recently when I was on vacation from BSO as they wouldn't ship across the border.
Not saying that other retailers won't, but they aren't supposed to.
Club Bass sells the Dunlop SBs, but they are too expensive for me to justify buying in Canada.

I bit the bullet on three sets because curiosity got the best of me and the sale price was SO cheap. They were good in most respects - better than lots of strings I've tried. But I soon went back to my old standard: Ken Smith Bass Burners.

The Dunlop Super Bright Nickels have been out-standing on everything I've tried them on.
Even brought one to life, that nothing else I tried worked on it.
The S/S went on a maple/maple/rw bass, tho.

Yeah if you like Ken Smith Burners I could see how you wouldn't like SB's. They are polar opposites in just about every way.
Am I a weirdo for not liking the SB's over Hi-Beams? After trying the Super Brights recently, I am not sold on these strings. I do not know if it will happen, but I would give another shot at a set if lighter gauges became available (35-90 would be sweet, but I am not holding my breath. I would give a 40-95 set a shot).
Someone - either on this tread or on the BSO Dunlop thread said they are similar.
Someone (not sure if it was the same person) also said if you're used to Smith Medium Lights, get the Dunlop Mediums for similar tension. I didn't do that. Stuck to .040 - .100 because I wanted just a hair less tension, if that's the right word.
For me, bottom line is that the Dunlops felt and sounded good. String to string balance was great. Low-mid-high ratio was good.
I wouldn't say the two were opposites. But my other strings (Ken Smith Bass Burners, nickel plated steel .040 - .100) were a bit meatier. That's what I was used to and went back to.
Wow I didn't find the Burners to have much in common with SuperBrights. To me the Burners are much stiffer feeling and much darker/muffled sounding. In fact the Burners are much like normal Dunlops, and they also remind me of GHS Boomers.
I don't find the Smiths muddy at all, but agree that the Dunlops are a bit clearer. I do agree with everything above (in your post that I dug up). In hindsight, I should have ordered 45 SBs, but I'm sticking where I am.
