However, gear is for the player, not the audience.
When I play my Sadowsky sa200 I can clearly hear a difference with any other amp I own.

If you just want to keep it as a Stationary Object you don't have to lug around on a regular basis, go for it. If you want something that sounds just as good and weighs a fraction as much, get a modern Class D amp with some lightweight neodymium speakers, like a Mesa D-800 and a couple Subway cabs. Your back will thank you and NOBODY but the tube-amp cork-sniffers will hear one iota of difference in a live band situation. That tube saturation everyone raves about only kicks in at crushing volume, and is easily reproduced at lower volumes using a tube driven pedal, or just a decent amp emulator. Full Meh.

They won't need to own a Ford E-series van. Just one of these.

If the sound gives you an ear-ection, it might be worth the physical effort to you.
It's certainly a lot of performance/$$ - but only if you love the tone.

Lot's possible context could explain why, not limited only to the matter of what brand/make, model, and year. There were SLM-era cabs made in a certain timeframe that were notoriously inferior. Buyer beware.

After the 360/361 I
enjoyed a flatback with Marshall Major and ‘70 Telebass with Rotos or Gibson EB2D.
It was a struggle because I was a 150lb bass waif.
My friend had an Acoustic 370/371 with fridge as his extension cab with Ric & humbucking.
We didn’t know in the early ‘70s this kit would be iconic later.

No reason not to enjoy it at home, and pass it on if/when he's finished with it.

He also has the means to transport it, so if he decides to gig it, it's up to him...

we're not all afraid to lug a big cab.
