I agree, but i would think that any one aspect should be the same. I wouldn't put clover tuners on a non-fenderesque headstock, for example. Things look good together or they don't.The thing with tort is that it has to look good in context with the instrument it's on. On a Fender with a three tone burst, it's fine. On Bootsy's Space Bass it just wouldn't work. Some of the bright reddish tort from the '60's was garish and fake no matter what they were on. The more subdued brown tort goes better with any finish that features wood grain. For more unusual colors like purple, blue or green, I think pearloid looks better. Not a fan of black.
He said 'some', not 'all' FWII resent that! I'd NEVER use a Carvin.

Rics have cloverleaf heads on them (see avatar of non-mutilated 4001) but I wouldn't put keystones on a P bass. Aesthetics are very personal, and some items get people riled up easily. Tort is one.I

Looks better with it on..And 5 minutes later when I took the Spanish Chorizo off!

Tort loaf is only good if you get it from a deli and keep it in the 'Fridge. It spoils if you leave it out. Plus, you just don't want to see the absurd logical conclusion of tort. Don't say you weren't warned:A quality, non pepperoni tort guard looks cool. What does not look cool is pearloid. Why all the pearloid hate? Hard to say. The real question is why am I asking myself questions? Again, hard to say.
Has tort loaf been brought into this thread? For those who are on the fence about tort or even for outright haters, tort loaf should bring them around.
