White Lake NC. Check it out on the map and zoom out a little. You'll find half a dozen or so little lakes in the area. The theory is that a huge asteroid broke apart on entry a gazillion years ago and created the craters that became those lakes. Many in the area call them "the Crater Lakes".

Mrs.Fingers is from the area and we are chillin at a little shimmy shack of the inlaws' that they affectionately call "The Turtle Shell".

Ha!.....right on, I'll Google Earth it

I snapped this photo of my pilot wife meeting Mrs Bee Falk Haydu who was in her early 90's. Mrs Haydu is one amazing women and has been a role model for many other women. She was a WWII WASP and piloted many type aircraft from heavy B-17 and B-24 bombers to fighters, such as Hellcats and P-51 Mustangs. This was a time when a woman's place was in the kitchen. The WASP were then disbanded in December 1944 and did not receive any military benefits because there were many in the military brass who did not like the idea of women flying airplanes. Mrs Dee Falk Haydu fought the military for benefits for the next 33 years and finally in 1977 the WASP were awarded full veteran rights. Then, in 2009, President Obama awarded the WASP the Congressional Gold Metal shown in photo below. Unfortunately, there was just a handful of WASP that were still alive to receive it. Again, an amazing women. Sorry if this is TMI.

I recently decided to clean up my old hard drives & maybe sell them (3-1/2" size - big ones)
While checking out their contents I came across many photos I thought had been lost, going back to my first Nokia with a removeable memory card. (2004 or 5)

I worked right near here & also lived near.
My employer built some parts for the first full-body scanner that was installed in this aiport.
You might have seen them, you have to lift your arms up & it scans you for weapons or contraband, not too dissimilar from how they do it in Sci-Fi movies.
