So for my new band I've set up a pedal board kind of like Royal Blood to split my signal with one part going to an (up) octaver and into a guitar amp and the other path going to the bass amp. Been having a lot of fun with this and a little tune came up while messing around. Wanted to simply record it and one thing led to another... All "strings" are solely done on bass, (crappy) drums were quickly punched in and even threw in a bit of (crappy) vocals...

I would ditch the vocal altogether. Also, work on the level of the drums and EQ them better. I really like everything else about the recording.

Hi! First off, thanks for having a listen :) And thank you for the constructive criticisme, I really appreciate it.
For the vocals and drums I totally agree. The whole thing is about intention and I'm hoping my band will catch on and together we'll take it to where it needs to go :)
I'm just the bassist and I find it difficult to "write" songs without adding stuff around the initial riff/idea, I find it gives more intention than just showing up at rehearsal with a riff.

I've written and recorded a bunch of tracks over the last year or so. I don't sing . I can, but trust me, you don't wanna hear it. As far as lyrics go, I can think of good concepts/subject matter (or a line here and there) but again, best left to those that are good at it.

Anyway, a few months back I came in contact with a couple vocalists that want to collaborate, and I'm finally finishing these tracks. I just have soundcloud at the moment but will get a band camp page up soon.

Here's the first one I've finished. On this one,I play bass, and put together the guitar parts by cutting and pasting some loops. I also did the same for horns section and sax solo is midi. Tedious & long process, but fun. All loops that I cut up were real instruments recorded, no AI. Keys, drums and vocals are friends of mine. All done in my office/music room on Reaper. Other musicians live all over US. Love digital tech.

I dig this! A very cool vibe and an excellent arrangement. There are some spots where the horns play over the vocals, and I think the vocals could be mixed louder overall. Nice job!
