OK, I do better over a real backing track rather than trying to roll my own. Some simple bari riffing, came out a bit less stanky:

    More practice more better.

Low notes are still difficult to sound cleanly, but I love how they sound when they work right! Big fat bari sound! :D

Enough of the beginner practice hacking for now. I thought I'd dredge up some actual bass-related "whole song" recordings, I've posted some of these before, but not on this thread.

So back to crappity sax playing - inspired by the "pipeline sax" guy on youtube (Armin Küpper ), I figured I'd try to emulate him using a delay and some reverb. It's harder than it looks to make it sound good, my rhythm especially needs work. But hey, work in progress:

Moar - this time on bari sax:

Still stinks, but getting better (only been at bari for a month or so now.)

  9. This thread has really been moving since I last checked in, almost three pages of posts to go through! I finished a quick little piece the other day using the b7 Minor-Drop that you hear in 25 or 6 to 4 and Brain Stew:

Mostly just me filling it up with bad sax and oboe practice! :) Making good progress, though!

Oh, and very nice tune, very "professionally recorded" sounding (to me). :)

  12. Thanks for the compliment! I don't know if it's professional sounding, I just have to go direct and hide it with reverb so I can't really get a "bad" sound out of it. People who can actually mix well always surprise me with the tricks they know that just take it that step further than I can. Also, if you can even make sounds with a woodwind instrument, you are leagues ahead of me!

  16. My band, Into The Next, finished recording our first EP! We recorded it ourselves. We mixed it and had some help with more mixing and mastering. We're amateurs, but hope you like some 80's inspired Metal with hints of prog rock.

My latest effort on tenor sax (done for a sax forum's "tune of the month" thread, used a canned backing track):

Here's a recording from our band's rehearsal last week. I'm playing my MIM Fender P-Bass, d'Adario Chromes, DI from Mesa Subway 800+ and mic'd Subway 115 cab into a Zoom R16. No background vocals on this one, we maxed the recorders inputs
