That single coil is standard Jazz size, any humcancelling EMG, DiMarzio, Duncan etc should work a treat.
I have the same bass, and get little to no hum from the single coil. But I rarley get any single coil hum on any bass.

Thanks Darkstrike! Most likely something with my bass then, I was curious because my old Rick had about the same level of hum, but my Charvel didn't. I'll tear things apart and post the results, maybe it will help somebody else out.

I almost always play in a noise free enviroment, so im my case it could be that, a better shield job would be no harm anyway.

My Traben Kore is one of the basses of my dreams! :)
One of the best basses I've played-
one of the first Trabens to leave the factory and does she ever play awesome!
LOLA, my fat-bottomed girl:
(lol sorry about the crappy pics- they're a few years old)

Thanks for the complements guys. I would have more pictures but the process of rebuilding the body was very messy and captivating. Maybe the next poor, unfortunate Traben I come across I will provide a detailed write up..... perhaps a copper metallic paint is in order?

Today is the first practice with it with the whole band after re-finishing. More to come as details emerge.

Please do!

I'd love to get one stripped to wood, and stained a seethrough emerald green.

Ack, so many ideas for custom Trabens now! Too bad I lack the skill. to do anything of the sort myself. :(

I wanna ask if anyone in the club has a Neo. I haven't seen any so far but I think they're pretty cool. I really love that white one with the bronze hardware and think it'd be pretty cool if they did a black one with copper hardware. Perhaps that's just me.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful work chokeslam512, I'd really love to see what you do in the future...

Good lord - that would be AMAZING! So far, that whiskey burl is my favorite finish of theirs and if I ever get another Traben, that's what I'll get. I really wish they'd up their finish options.

Anyway -
I can't believe I missed out on this club. I thought I posted in one a looong time ago. (a different thread than what that other link posted went to..) I have been playing a Smoke Black Traben Phoenix for a few years now. I haven't modified a thing and I have been plenty happy with the sounds and tones on it. I've used it on a few recordings in the past, and I am recording demos for a new album currently and it's helping me put down some great stuff!

I get all kinds of questions and complements on all the flames and its looks. For the money - I think it's a great instrument.

My one Traben dig - their soft gig bags are terrible. I don't do a ton of shows, and I'm always really careful with moving/loading in/out etc, and all the seam stitching came undone on the bag. I went and got a hard case - which is doing nicely so far.

Oh - and looks like I'm the 2nd MN Traben owner on here!

I had an Array for about a year, then the thing started falling apart. Frets came loose, wiring had to be redone, the finish in places went from gloss to almost flat, the bridge was twisted. Learned the hard way. Sounded great when I first got it though.

Damn dude, you play with a hammer?!

I've mine for longer than that and its near mint. (Polishing swirls)
