sorry about the blurry pic, but here's mine...

Squier Jazz with a Gotoh 201 clone and an Allparts neck.

Now a question...do you think it looks better without the pickguard or would it look better with one?

Oh, and # please!

Count me in! Here are my Squiers. The Affinity has SD Quarter-Pounders, and the tone pot has been eliminated (it's just a dummy knob). It will soon get either a Badass II or Hipshot bridge. The Dirnt (my backup) is stock at the moment, but will likely get similar mods.

1998 Squier Precision. I picked it up from a local pawn shop.

After a strip and repaint in Fiesta Red, a new tort guard, a set of TI flats, a new set of chrome barrel knobs, a Duncan Quarter Pounder, a pickup cover, a bridge cover, and a thumbrest.

I'm in Gord Oh!

Black Squier Jazz with chrome knobs, pbass ashtray, jazz pickup cover, and a black pickguard....does that qualify as tricked out enough? I may end up upping the pickups, but I haven't had it long enough to decide which ones I'd get...

1st up - what has become my "main squeeze".

Began life as a VM fretless. Replaced fretless neck with a fretted one. Installed the Leon Quan Badass bridge, real Fender tuners, Lindy Fralin vintage Pickups, and Dunlop strap locks.

I get more comments about killer tone when I play this bass than almost any other bass I have. People always ask if it's active?

Turned out to be a smokin' bass.

I like it better without the 'guard, but looking at your picture, it appears that the inside color of the burst wasn't shot onto the body where the pickguard would cover it. Is that how it really looks? If so, that's rather odd. Looks good with the screws back in, kinda like "invisible pickguard"!;)

Charles Obscure--

yea, that's the one problem with it, the red in the three tone sunburst doesnt cover the entire edge. It does indeed look odd, but I kinda like the no pickguard look.

I'm still thinking about painting the white guard that came with it black and putting it on there....can't decide tho...

I had an SX jazz bass that looked much like yours. It looked perfect with a black pickguard. I even tried on a tort 'guard for a while but liked the black better.
I'd suggest if you go with a pickguard, make it black.

i need your opinions -
is Mighty Mite SWAMP ASH BODY FOR FENDER JAZZ BASS good for the squier VM jazz?
i love this bass very much, and the soft maple body has great sound in my taste, but it's very heavy. to much heavy for my back to gig with it.
i thought to replace the body with Mighty Mite body like this -
!B,iS2vQBGk~$(KGrHgoOKkQEjlLmWTSVBKr6+VP8L!~~_12.jpg

but i wonder if it have a perfect match or need lot of work to match it with the neck?
and is this body good at all?
anyone got experience with it?
those body's are sell for around 100$ at ebay

My idea of a tricked-out Affinity is to not let it be obvious.

I bought this at GC/San Bernardino many moons ago and it's prolly a 1998-9 model.
Yeah - it also came with the BP15 Squier amp too, and I still use it for 'things'

It's a blast to take it out of it's hard case and strap it on and the band looks and you can
hear them saying "It's JUST an Affinity? My Gawd! What did we let play with us now!"

Once it starts talking all of that just disappears and there's no disparaging words from
them after that.

Here's my Q-Ship :

I even left the single-ply pick guard on it ::

I was fortunate to get the big machines:::

The electrical stuff:
  1. .1uF cap added onto the stock Squier cap, so I am @ .147uF
  2. ROTOSOUND 77s
Everything was so good after just those two changes I have decided it's too good to mess it up.
