Tronographic Rusty Box Soundclips

I've still been running mine off of the 30V adapater that Tronographic provides. I've been having no luck in getting Voodoo Lab to return my phone calls so I can buy the 24V (12V + 12V with center positive) adapter for my PP2+.

I've been curious about the reduced headroom as well, but an email that I received from Tronographic about it made me feel better. Basically they said that the reduction of headroom would be pretty minor, and that it tested OK in conditions even lower than 24V. Obviously the higher voltage is preferred, but I'm not too worried about 24V operation. I want the thing to breakup a bit, so the knob position of the input gain can just move down a bit and I'll be back where I was.

Well, the end of June has come and gone..
I'm dying to own one of these. Do you think maybe not being able to buy one outright is amplifying the GAS I am feeling?? Or maybe it's the lack of YouTube videos..
I suppose listening to Shellac/Unwound/New Brutalism on the regular isn't helping, either.
I am a sad, sad shell of a man. :(
(My intention is to make someone feel so sorry for me that they'll part with theirs..) ;)

I'm sure there must be a store in Seattle that stocks those kinds of adaptors- I know there are a handful of stores that do in Portland (I can think of at least five that aren't Guitar Center!) . You might not be able to find the single reverse-polarity/parallel in one, but I'd bet there are places that sell a parallel adaptor and reverse polarity adaptor seperately which you could just chain together. I use a CIOKS multiple isolated power supply for all my pedals except the Rusty Box because I was concerned about losing headroom + didn't want to lose two outputs for one pedal. I my try to rearrange my setup though to see how the lower voltage might affect it- I know that one possible downside could be a muddier/mushier low-end, as I have experienced that before with other pedals when I've tried lower voltages.

Traynor TS50B. You can get them for like 100 bucks. That's how people got this sound for years, long before the Rusty Box existed.

I'm on the list and haven't heard anything either. I was fortunate enough to find one on eBay but am still thinking about buying another as a back up and because they seem so hard to find...

The Rusty Box is one of very few pedals that I liked immediately. Normally pedals take me time in order to really get into them. Not the Rusty Box.

Hopefully you'll hear from Tronographic soon!

If you want to hear the Rusty Box used to "warm up" a direct track, rather than for full-blown overdrive or distortion, you can check out a track I did here:

This is 50/50 direct signal from a Radial JDI, and the Rusty Box set with very low gain, and minimal EQ. Just enough to get some breakup and warmth for a not-quite Motown tone. I think it works REALLY well for this type of thing. The bass in question is a Warmoth G4 (alder with figured maple top), Status-Graphite jazz neck, Hipshot hardware, and a pair of Darkstar pickups split 50/50 with the tone control wide open (the bass has no tone control, so... well... you get the idea, :smug: )

The first half is solo guitar, but at the halfway mark (roughly) the rest of the instruments kick in. This is a scratch track, so the guitars are a bit out of time with everything else, but it's representative of what you can expect. I played all the instruments on this track, so there's no excuse for it being out of time, haha.

..... i've used that with ny Rusty on both the Voodoo PP2 and the BBE Supah Charger, works a charm.

Why are you looking to do that? Is it that the Tronographic cord is not long enough or something else? I'm trying figure out what I should be anticipating...
