"Truthers" and 9/11

I have the best theory. Sr. Bush and lil Jr (as he will be known to the devil army) are both from the future, and planted it all to start all wars including the future war against the anti-christ for all of mankind. All I need to know is why did Bush give the green light on the explosives for the gulf spill, when he's not president anymore? Get ready for $10 a gallon y'all. Sucks don't it? We need closed thread stats, like who actually gets in what before the lock. Who planted the bomb at the first WTC attempt? Who planted at the USS Cole? It is hard to accept that there are people in this world who will teach their children one thing: how to cut off your head.

Have you read the 9/11 commission report?

I have read some but not all. Any specific part? I'm not trying to stir the **** pot. Talkbass has consistantly placed it's opinion on the side of the common belief, and I'm not saying otherwise. I feel about 9/11 how I feel about religion; I don't know how it happened, so I don't choose sides. I'm merely posing the what ifs and saying things that I don't understand.

It is true everyone knew an attack was inevitable. They say the same thing today. It covers bums, like the whole "who knew what and when" thing. I accept that some people in this world want me dead, and my way of life erased. Just because one knows an attack is imminent doesn't mean anyone knows the intimate details of the attack, and internet speculation of such an unfolding world event is just speculation.

To say that people don't want to attack the united states would be insane, and obviously wrong.

I do, however, doubt that hundreds of americans passively sat and let airliners be hijacked with box knives. If a 5'8" middle eastern man tryed to subdue me with a box knife, I'm fairly certain it wouldn't end well for him. If you look at all the recent failed attacks, they all had little to no chance of success.

I am finding it hard to believe that the same man who thought driving a van full of explosives into the twin towers would bring them down, could orchestrate a plan of this magnitude.

If I am ever in a terrorist attempt, I hope you're next to me because we'll wreck shop. But all attempts follow the escalation of force as if it was DNA or ABC's. They now know it's impossible to do anything with american civilian terrorists, they most likely cannot be prosecuted as combatants. That alone can create a trend. Die for allah, or survive and make america pay for the attempt. I'm just an ass but I can see an entire array of problems arising from these latest tries. The reason the bomb didn't go off at times square was because he used non explosive fertilizer and too small of a spark, the firecrackers. A few more weeks of research and better supplies and that one would've went, like Oklahoma city, but in the middle of the street...

Do you find it hard to believe that you may possibly be in fear or shock seeing a couple people get their throats slashed right in front of you? As much as I'd like to believe we'd all be superheros in the situation, it is easy to speculate sitting at the computer from the comfort of our safe homes. Not to mention, nothing like this had ever happened, they were informed there was a bomb on the plane and to remain quiet. No one knew what was going on, and any attempt at something "brave" could have caused someone to "detonate the bomb". The exception being, the plane that went down in PA....passengers by that time knew what was going on, and DID take the matter into their own hands.

I spoke to a good friend this past January who I hadn't spoken to in a little over a year. She had turned into a huge conspiracy nut and kept urging me to watch this movie series called Zeitgeist. Yeah, I never watched it, but I've considered watching if for some amusement. I enjoy listening to Coast to Coast A.M., but I don't believe the myriad of nutjobs on there as guests.

LMFAO :D

Well stated. Additionally, it's sometimes easy to forget how complacent and relatively non-confrontational we Americans as a society had become prior to 9/11. It's far easier and more "comfortable" to sit back and hope for the best than it is to stand up and take matters into your own hands. So on that note, I find it perfectly reasonable to believe that the passengers on those planes would have sat there and done nothing, placing their hopes on some possible shred of benevolence and mercy from the highjackers.

Far more reasonable than, say, a crack team of super secret ninja demolitions experts priming the Twin Towers for controlled implosions without anyone noticing.

There is an extensive documentary on the collapse the includes interviews with the chief design engineer from the Yamasaki team.
He didn't say the beams "melted". He said they softened due to the heat of the burning jet fuel and sagged/bent unter the weight load, causing them to detach and fall. This happened in a cascade. One detached and fell into the next which was also weakened ...
This is the chief design engineer of the towers ... I consider him "credible".
The show has aired many times on cable.
No credible source has ever contended that the fire melted the beams.

Where you're wrong is non-resistance to hijackers was official policy until after 9/11. Up to that point there was no reason not to go along with the hijacker and have the thing play out with the release of all passengers after an unscheduled landing and negotiations. 9/11 was unprecedented. After 9/11, all that changed.

There's your explanation.

If you're talking about the 9/11 conspiracies thing that I saw on the History channel this morning, I went on a ****ing rage about how stupid the claims were earlier today.

Of course, I don't discuss politics and such here, so all I'm going to say is that I'm just utterly dumbfounded at how incredibly stupid these otherwise very intelligent people are when it comes to their conspiracy theories.:rollno:

That's what I meant to say.

Some weeks ago, I put out a feeler here about seriously discussing the psychological phenomenon of conspiracism, not any one conspiracy as such. I sort of decided to pass because of the smart-ass nature of most TBers and their posts making serious discussion of anything impossible. :(

I've been studying the conspiracist mindset for some time and it's one of the most troubling and complex questions I've ever looked into -- especially if you personally know those of otherwise exceptionally high intelligence who are utterly consumed with these symptoms.

I think this will be my last post in this thread. What I find interesting is that I'm the only one whp has even posed a querstion as far as possibile explinations. In reference to 911 as well as most other aspects of my life, I try to keep an open mind and see things from all sides as much as I can. All I would really like is a truly independent third party (I.e.underwriters labs or something similar) to be given all info and do tests and truly put the baby to bed.
