Earlier in this thread I posted Link Wray's cover of the Batman theme but it got zapped from youtube and TB won't let me edit a post that old, so re-posting it here:

And the reason I've come back to this thread is because I recently started watching this Japanese anime sci fi series, "Cowboy Bebop", which has a killer bass line in the intro theme.

That was the exact song I thought of when I saw the thread tittle. Even went and learned it to have something to framp on between songs while the rest of the band gets their stuff together for the next one.

Chuck Rainey played on a LOT of cuts like this in the 70's. He would be my first guess.

Chuck Rainey played on the themes to many of Norman Lear comedies of the 1970s like Sanford & Son, The Jeffersons and One Day a Time.

The Link Wray version is way better, it's at once both dorkier (because fo the voices) and more badass, because it's Link freakin' Wray.

Although these three seasons of 'The Bob Newhart Show' have some interesting stuff going on, bass-wise, I can’t find my favorite season’s version of it on YouTube, as they revamped the arrangement and feel slightly for most if not each season.










I was at Western Studios when the version below was recorded, which was also the year of the final season.

After the session, I found the bass chart for this on the floor, which I still may have.

It's not from/for the show, but was arranged by Patrick Williams, who also arranged the original theme(s) that was originally written by Lorenzo Music.

Can’t remember how much was actually written out, outside of some key figures.

I put it away and haven’t seen, nor looked for it since then.

I will soon, if for nothing else, just to see if it mentions on the chart who was playing:
