Two Notes Audio User Group

I could totally use two C.A.B. M+ units, as well. But, having one OPUS...it seems like the thing to do...a situation is driving putting a smaller, but functional amp on stage, with a non-stereo signal requirement where the wet/dry makes for better execution. Of course, a slight reconfiguration can bring a stereo (recording) situation online, too.

I also have decided that I could shed an EQ pedal, compressor and one effect by going with the Source Audio UltraWave Bass and gain even more in the process. So, I have the room to do it, the second OPUS in a wet/dry application has everything you could want at the end of the chain and I dont have to use midi resources with each OPUS set to one amp!

Things are a bit wack right now, but getting better, so the amp is in the not too distant future, but the other is in the works right now.

Cheers 🤞🏼
It definitely sounds like OPUS is the way forward here for sure!
if you need anything from my side, let me know but it seems you have a great plan of action here!

I bought the REA One Cabinet this evening.

I think it is the most transparent cabinet model I've run across (I wish it had the Cnd Fet 47 mic included with it as that has become one of my favorites).

Created a couple of Presets with it - one just the Cab + EQ and another with the Foundry Bass Preamp & 6L6 Power amp - both sound really good.

My normal process is to listen to them while playing along with different genres of music and tweak them as I go until I cannot seem to get any more happy with them, then I'll probably post them to the Opus Exchange server.

I got that one with the Genome Suite Upgrade and like it as well. It's actually the first cab sim I used that worked for me. Afterwards I learned how to work some others and am enjoying using cab sims now. I just wrote a bit about it in the Opus thread.

A tried and tested method here for sure! Looking forward to giving this a blast when you upload to the EXCHANGE!

Well I fell at the first hurdle, set up a new account, installed and clicked start new trial to be told my 14 day trial ended 🤣 Ill try again later after a restart incase its a glitch.
Ah, that's very strange. It is likely a license issue on our side; could I ask that you raise a ticket at Support.Two-notes.com - if you let me know your ticket number I can get this fast tracked for you!

Rebooted and it booted up fine so we're all good!

I think I'm gonna hook it up so I can record via my QC but pass a dry signal into my pedalboard and then Genome to approximate how it might sound. I need to get it on headphones so I can properly compare and hear what's going on. I've never been a big Ampeg or Darkglass fan so the preamps will have a challenge to win me over but the power amp sim adds a nice sprinkle on top of the Model FeT. Cabs sound good but again I really need to listen on headphones.

Noted and Understood - I would also suggest giving THE 400 a go - when I am running Bass in GENOME this is my go to! :)

I've probably mentioned it at previously, but I feel it bears another shout out; the Subway series of IR's in the TN shop are different gravy! I was struggling with a couple of the pre-loaded IR's (mostly because I also don't really care for the Ampeg fridge sound, or the "modern" style cabs. I wanted to like the Fliptop IR, but having owned a real one for 15yrs, I can say the capture is nowhere near its genuine counterpart), but have not looked back once since trying the Mesa captures! The Subway 212 in particular is a delight :)

Is the SW212 the only SW you have?

I have the SW212 with a Foundry Bass 6L6 thing going on...

I have added:

Mesa PH215
Mothership 810
60's British 412
WGrandAve (115 Flip-top)

I've been looking @:

SWR Big Ben (can't remember the name)
TE 1818 ( can't remember the name)

It is indeed the only SW I own currently. I tested out a couple of the others (210 and 115 IIRC), and the 212 was the one I enjoyed most immediately. Having had the Torpedo for a couple years now, I'm learning that I don't need a plethora of cabs in order to make things work. Comfortably 95% of the time, I am using the "clean" Subway 212 IR; depending on which effects I use on my board, it can handle everything from reggae lows to Geddy Lee clank and snarl. There's one band I play with that is almost entirely in "rawk" territory, and all that requires is swapping to another preset which uses that exact IR, but has the 6L6 power section engaged too.

For home messing around, I get having multiple cabs for S&G's (there's a Rumble 210, Markbass 210, and a TB-made Orange 410 loaded into my CAB M+). But in a professional context, I really only need the one capture. Even my "rawk" one could be dispensed with and I'd be just fine!

YMMV, of course :)

In my case, the first C.A.B. M+ I had I dumped everything except the stock Bass cabinets I could possibly conceive of using.

I have like six rigs set up...

One Control Crimson Red + WGrandAve (B-15)

EL34 thing + 60's British 412 (Super Bass - UK)

KT-88 thing + Mesa PH215 (Hiwatt DR201)

Aviator + Form Factor 410 (B7K)

Foundry Bass 6L6 + SW212 (Bassman-212)

Peggy + Mothership 810 (+/- SVT)

I've been using:

B15/Bassman-212 (Dry)

&

DR201 (Wet)

I've been wondering about the 18" + OC CRBP?

I think that covers most contingencies!

Well this is super awesome to hear guys! For me personally, I am a big fan of the Don Broco Bass cabs - sits perfectly in any track I am working on and I was at the capture for this one: < flying the drone amongst other capture duties with Adam from Hop Pole.

Product page here if you are interested: Don Broco - Two notes

As far as Bass cabinets, I previewed almost all of them (and I know a lot of it is personal preferences), but the Standard Powerhouse 1000 is my favorite by far.

For a bit more colored sound, my favorite is the Don Bronco Evo 115 Neo.

For transparent (pretty much the sound of your bass guitar), it would be the REA One (even though I think the available mics limit its transparency compared to what it could be).

A big part of getting the best sound out of them is the mics you use and how you set them up in the virtual space.

I usually don't use the Enhancer or Reverb, but do use the Custom EQ!

I was a bit bummed out this afternoon. I went in the site and had three IR's in my cart and found out that my 40% off coupon had expired on 3/10...

I had these in the cart from a week or so ago:

Don Broco 115 EBS

Mesa PH1000

TE 1818

Was never clear if that was 40% off the entire order or what, but damn!

Try running those preamps at a lower gain setting, they have a more balanced voice to me that way, unless I'm wanting to push some OD.

If you're using a power amp, the Contour and Depth have a huge impact on the overall tone as well.

Will do, I’ve got plenty of gain on my board so really looking for something pretty clean that takes other effects well. Should have a little time today to have a play on my lunch, possibly long work calls too 🤣

Thanks Ross!

We have JDH raving about the Mesa PH1000 that I actually owned for a short while 10 years ago. (About this time last year, I found one near mint in a pawn shop by Austin with cover for $300...straight to GC!)

I had almost purchased that Don Broco EVO 115 when I had the C.A.B. M+ better late than never! The TE 1818 may become the big boody call in the stable...

I'll keep an 👀 on the sales...!

Cheers!
