Bridge pickup on both is the same, 32" 2/16ths from nut to centre .

1/2" between the neck pickups.

On the 5'er it measures 29" from nut to centre. 4 string measures 28" 1/2.

The Black Foundation 5 arrived yesterday. GC site had described the bass as in "Great" condition. Their definition of great is that it functions perfectly and may have minor surface scratches.

Well, it was actually in good condition. It had numerous chips in the finish and some was pretty bad around the control knobs. I touched up the chips with black paint, cleaned and waxed the bass, installed some of the older Peavey knobs that have a skirt that covers the finish damage where the original knobs were. I reinstalled the strings that it came with because they are D'Adarrio XL's. They are heavier than I typically use but are fresh so I decided to use them. I did a complete set up on the bass and am rewarded with a great looking/playing Peavey 5 that just sounds terrific.

My total cost was $347. That is not as cheap as these basses were going for a few years ago but it is a really good value IMO.


I need to stop buying basses and get a better camera. This one sucks.

I love the old P knobs on it! Matching headstock is a really cool touch.

My remaining Fury with 91 body and 95 neck (used the opposites to build one for my drummer). Only other original parts on it are the pickguard and string tree.

Tuning machines, bridge, all electronics upgraded and today, I just slapped in some Fender 60s Customs.

Setup super low, no buzzing. She is a dream P.

Just finished working on two basses today and both worked out. I love when that happens !
Here is my 1992 Fury I got from GC Used last week. It was BEAT TO HELL. Pickup didn't work because a solder joint broke, G string tuner rattled so I put a piece of tape around it so now it's quiet, the pickguard was broken so I "fixed" it by blacking it out with Gorilla tape. Before it was white and looked stupid so now it's all black. It has the old script Fury logo so I thought it was old, but only 1992.

I took out the pickup, filled the cavity with copper foil and added a SELECT by EMG pickup. It's quiet and sounds killer now. I also put on a set of D'Addario XL's Half-Rounds. First time ever using them and I'm impressed !!!

The saving grace of this bass is the solid alder body ( I think alder ?) and the maple neck is straight as an arrow and the truss rod is perfect. This took a set up like my Cirrus. I posted a photo of the set up last week. Stupid low action now. This looks how I like them - Road worn and personal but plays like a champ, which is what really counts. One of the best Pbasses I've ever owned !!! As you can see, I'm not applying any pressure to the strings - They ARE that low ! ZERO fret noise or dead spots.

Really ? Not mine if you mean heavy. It's also a jazz style neck on a Pbass, as opposed to my 1987 Foundation which is a Pbass neck on a jazz bass.

No wonder they are so good !!! I had SELECTS in my first "real" bass in 1987 when I worked at Guitar Center San Francisco. Gary Brawer's shop installed them for me, and is STILL in the same location. My tone went full Geddy after that, so I've always liked them.

I actually love those EMG Selects...I have them in several of my older, beater basses. I know lots of folks in the 90's pulled them out of their basses and said they were junk, but I dig them...especially when they are mated with 500k pots

I was looking at these, but all the ones I saw were maple necks and I wanted to defret. I did not want to tackle a defret on an maple fretboard. I found a Milestone II instead.

It's funny you say that Rob because they pots in the Fury are 500k !!! I was expecting to see 250k. They have the green caps also on both pots, not just the tone.

I found that the Milestones make GREAT platforms to mod.

Somehow certain things stick in my brain , like G&B also had the Spector TonePump contract .

Why can't it be practical things , remembering where I left the car keys would be nice

Yeah, the Milestone and Fury were roughly in the same tier of bass (budget). Either one... prob any of their US built basses from the early 90s would work very nicely for upgrates.

That’s funny lol! when I got my first fury. I litteraly bought with Emg selects and took it straight to a gig
