Even with new mdi hex pickup all the module you can find are going to track sluggish. Really sluggish above the 12th fret. Id focus any midi dreams on a midi foot pedal

Somehow certain things stick in my brain , like G&B also had the Spector TonePump contract .
Why can't it be practical things , remembering where I left the car keys would be nice
I have mentioned it many times before. I really appreciate how well Peavey parts Frankenstein together. Every time I throw together a parts Peavey, it turns out much better than expected, with much less work and effort to make it set up properly (I'm looking at you, Fender/Squier as well as all the other parts companies).
I'm a J guy and love the 1.5" nut on a 4 string. However, Peavey knocked it out of the park with their 4 string 1.75" nut neck profile. It's much like the late 50s P profile. So comfy. I have never personally experienced a Foundy with the wide nut. However, my Foundy body/T45 neck/Toaster Frankenstein (T42.5) fits that mold.
To reiterate the above quote. It's nearly sorcery how well that body mated with that neck. Same with my 87 Foundy/87 Patriot neck build. It's perfect, too. Same as when I got a 85 wide nut Patriot neck for my 87 narrow nut Patriot. It screwed right on and set up flawlessly. That 87 neck ended up on the Foundriot mentioned above.
As mentioned, I'm not a P guy, but when I do P bass it up, I prefer P/J and/or 500K pots. It brings out a touch of clarity that is easily rolled off with the tone control or the amp, if needed. At the very least, I install a 500K tone pot.
Very true. However, tie goes to the Fury. 80s Fury basses are killer builds as they are mostly domestic in build and parts, the 90s Fury is pretty nice with some attention to set up. The parts became a pretty equal mix of import and domestic at that time.
The Milestone only suffers from being fully imported and having parts and woods that feel imported.
I have a 94 Forum Plus that punches way above it's weight class. The neck is domestic, but the body, hardware and electronics aren't. Stock, it played great after giving it a detailed set up for my preferences (including a little nut tuning). However, the electronics were not to my liking, the Peavey actives were not as familiar and comfy as the EMG P & J pickups that I grew up with. Threw some Wildes in there as well as a harness that I felt brought out the best of the pickups. That bass is going nowhere now!
I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I spent the last four grueling hours putting together this new Milli Plus project I'm building with a RARE carbon fiber factory Peavey Millennium neck and NOS body from Amber on Reverb (Brown Eyed Girl).
I have two sets of Milli MMJ pups, so I took the J's from them to make a pair. I had a Milli pre, but tried using the Cirrus preamp I also got from Amber first. It didn't have a blend pot, which I never noticed. I have some spider 50k pots so I was surely hoping they'd work, but they only have 3 legs on one side and 1 leg on the other instead of 3/3. So after a long time of making an input jack from an old faucet and a Dremel, I had to take it all apart after all that work. The blend pot didn't work, so I only had the neck pup working.
I undid everything only to redo the custom faucet input jack and use the Milli pre. This time it worked !!
Now, I just need to attach the neck, but here's what I have so far. Oh, I still need to install a bridge, too.

It is probable that the preamp was intended to be used in a G bass which has one pickup and no need for a blend pot. That is a pretty body and I can’t wait to see it completely assembled.

That is a very accurate statement about the tone pump. Apologies to anyone who likes it.
Thanks Chuck !! Yeah, I was thinking that, but it has the solder pads for a blend pot, just like you can turn a Gbass into a Cirrus pre, I'm PRETTY sure ... I think if I can find or find out how to make a 6 point spider pot like the Cirrus has, it will work. I know one of my Cirrus's has a regular pot with extended legs to make it work for a Cirrus that my tech did. I can't give up yet, especially since I dropped 2 bills on two pre's. I'd hate to think I got 2 Gbass pre's...

I have one in most all my Spectors (Euros and NS2A's) I had a Zbop with one as well...LOL. I like EMG preamps as well, and love the Hazlab pre in the USA Spectors, but anytime I get a Spector with an EMG preamp in it, I swap it out for the Tone Pump.Edit: no offense taken

Too bad I didn't know you then, I would have gladly swapped pre's. I might have kept the Zbop!
Actually, what I didn't like about the ReBops were the EMG HZ passive pickups that came in all of them. They were not a good mix with the Tone Pump...I replaced the pickups in all 3 ReBops Ive owned with regular active EMG's and that made all the difference in the world...especially with the 35P & 35J set...killer!
No. The legs are too short and go in the wrong direction. Also the shaft is too short to go through the body. I will post a photo of the Cirrus pre blend pot in a bit.

I have seen this so often….one player loves a certain bass or pickup brand or preamp and someone else hates it. Who is wrong?

The amplification used has a great deal to do with tone and we have different taste too.
I see Aguilar AG 700’s for sale frequently in the ads but I love mine. It is fantastic for the tone I love…when used with my Aguilar GS 112 cabs. It sounds great with one GS 112 and much better with a pair of them. I also have a pair of SL 112’s and much prefer them with a Tone Hammer head for upright bass. They don’t sound good to me with the AG 700.
Bass>strings>electronics >amplification >your ears=your preferred tone? Sometimes. Other times we tweak or change something.

Also the cab ( I guess that's what you meant by amplification ...). I use SWR cabs and ANY amp sound good through it.
