Loading caps can be sort of complex. Most often, the cap changes the resonant peak of the pickup, and depending on the size of the cap, it could also act as a HPF or LPF. It requires some experimentation to find the value that works with resistance and inductance of the circuit and pickups. A similar thing happens with long cable lengths--the summation of the capacitance of the cable(s) starts to roll off the highs and then the lows from the signal.

I feel inclined to recommend tapered wooden shims instead, such as these. You might have to cut 2 to fill the width of a GV neck, but at least you'd still have full contact all the way around, and hitting the edge with a sharpie makes them all but disappear.
Edit: my bad, these aren't tapered, but stewmac sells a tapered version.
Peavey Forum. Anyone else have one of these bad boys? I've been ignoring this bass for years because it's heavy. But lately my back and shoulder have been feeling pretty good so I dragged out a couple of boat anchors for my daily warmup. I'd forgotten how good the Forum plays and sounds (DA nickel rounds 100ga). I have to say, it's an absolute BULLDOZER of a bass. The authority the notes have is amazing, especially down low where some basses seem to get a bit lost. This may be the strongest and most musical sounding bass in my herd. Now I remember why I haven't sold the heavy bastard. Color me impressed!
Anyway, since I recently found out that the Axcelerators don't share the same weight problem that I mistakenly thought they did, I must have one. Keeping an eye out for a nice Axcelerator + in case anyone wants to sell theirs.

I have one in black, its solid as heck and plays great, but it's far from my favorite tonally, and I keep hoping the market value rises enough for me to want to let go of it lol. I really really wanna pick up a Forum AX with the 2 pickups, though.
I had one. Got it on the cheap about 12 years ago. It was like new in the original case. It was a sunburst 5 string. Played great and sounded fantastic and it weighed 13 pounds. 13 pounds. That was some heavy ash.
I don't doubt it. Mine definitely rivals my T-40, and its only poplar! There was a 4 string AX in sunburst up on ebay a few months ago and I still feel like I missed out not grabbing it. Live and learn.
Like maybe this one? It ran for 7 days...one bidder. I doubt there'll be another one at this price again. At least not on ebay or Reverb.

I've been reading up on the Axcelerators, haven't found specific info on the elecs yet. Wondering if they have the same pups and pre as the single pickup Forum and the AX ? They look the same...radius'd shells, 18v preamp, same control layout (?). But, I know how Peavey has offered different pickups in the past, housed inside the same looking shells as on some other models.
