It's funny, I was just thinking to myself yesterday that, if I acquire one more Peavey for the stable, it would be an '87 Mahogany Patriot, which I would have it routed for a single coil SF at the neck (RicRiot), slanted SF in the P middle position and a single coil SF in the Foundation bridge position with a six way selector switch...

Well, this is already routed out at the neck, just gotta make it work for a SF!
A SF would 100% sound better than any P pickup at that position. However, if the P pickup was wired in parallel, it could gain some clarity...

I thought it was the T20 and some of the Patriots, ...is that the case?
I'm sure I've read some complaints about a wide shallow neck that some folks don't like.
Anybody here got one they don't like? ...that they would like to trade for a Foundation neck that is the normal Peavey neck size shape we all seem to like.
I would like to try one of the wide nut Peavey necks, I have two Yamaha Attitude basses with wide 1-11/16" nut width but they are not baseball bat deep at all, and I love them.

My T45 neck is wide, but shallow. Much like a late 50s or 83/84 P neck. The T40 neck is similar. My 85 Patriot neck has more depth to it.

Just finished the T-Patriot. I absolutely love this bass. All passive, no 60 cycle hum, LOW action so it's effortless to play, and the rosewood T-40 neck plays and sounds great. I am going to take it to rehearsal next week.
BEFORE :
The neck needs to be redone. I don't know how to do that. Also, the electronics didn't work.

AFTER :
Rewired the electronics, but instead of a Jazz bass, it's a dual P bass, so you play front or back pickup or they phase each other out. I don't know how to wire in a switch, and all that but I like it like this. Each pup sounds dead quiet and beefy. The bridge T pup has a more midrange hump and clarity. The stock SF sounds like the king of all Pbasses. I also added a side input so the top is just control knobs. I love the final look.

I'm not sure if it just needs fret work done, or what. It is almost OK, so I know it's salvageable, so when I can afford it I'll bring it to the shop.

One has 20 frets and one has 21 frets....how does that work?

I was wondering the same thing. If the saddles have enough room to move towards the butt end, then it can intonate.

Finally got a chance to give this Firebass 700 a true test drive...as in gave it a couple hours of play at a fairly loud volume. This amp is LOUD and I got a killer hard driving rock sound out of it. Played my gen2 Fury, Dyna bass, Pink Jesus Foundation, my 'Hog Patriot and My PXD Void.

The amp has the typical gain and volume controls...not quite sure how they should be set on this amp. My question is the "clip" light next to the volume knob, should that just blink a little bit or not at all? At times with the Void it was on continuously...! It has a defeat switch, what's that actually do?
I found the "contour" and the "mid-shift" controls to be very useful in honing the overall sound. The Patriot cut through the best(not a surprise).

The Void!?!( I know, not US made) I hadn't had very much time with this bass, not my typical "go to" bass at all...but this thing absolutely rocks! I believe it has the Cirrus pre-amp? It led me to play some hard hitting heavy metal type lines and runs, what a beast this thing is, and I mean WOW! I'm not a "active pup" type and I don't have a Cirrus on Millennium, this bass is pretty awesome!

I absolutely LOVED my Firebass 700. I don't remember why I sold it, it had to be 12 years ago, at least. I really like how the D.I. is on the front and the only jacks on the rear are for speakers. I found it to be the perfect club gigging amp for that reason. You have to move fast between bands and having the soundman plug into the D.I. with no problem. They sound so warm and tubey, too.

I forgot about the limiter light. Yes, it blinks, not on continuously.

My experience as well. My T40 neck was wide, but shallow and was the first wide neck that my small hands felt comfortable on.

Thanks man! I got it from @PeaveyPlayer (thanks again) a while back. All my gigging was done with that Trace/410/4ohm rig...you make a good point about everything on the front, the trace is pretty dark in the back of that box.

When I had the firebass

I turned my volume almost down

turned the gain till it distorted and then backed it off until it was Clean enough I could slap and not clip
