I'm pretty sure that rule applies only to people who want an appraisal of a bass they are trying to sell.
So I got my new 916 pickups
And compared to the grind pickups
Immediately I noticed they pickup the body of the bass… like taps and what not? So not sure but
Compared to the grind 5 pickups i immediately noticed more bass response and it was tight
What’s a good amount of low mid girth
I personally found there wasn’t a lot happening in the Heimir frequencies as well as the upper top even with 500K pots and an Emg preamp
I used to boost the lowest mid frequency on the mid sweep before when I would do that now it seemed a little boxy and just not eat pleasing
The pick up top end is not super sparkly I’m not sure if that has to do with the fact of the form factor and how it is different from a true super ferrite (although I’ve never had one to begin with so I can’t compare)
I will not say the treble is warm and subdued
i’ll see if I can upload some sound clips I have to fix my cavity a little bit as it was a little tight and I didn’t really get a job of trying to make it fit lol…
i’ll pick ups build quality is amazing as a good amount of weight to it and wire for soldering was very easy to work with
Could be my string choice as I have fusion wound sits
But I’m also thinking I might go down a gauge and go to stainless
even single coil hum was very minimal

You may be correct. Although, "pesonal instruments" could possibly imply ownership. The wording may have changed since I last read it (quite some time ago.) I thought it had been more explicit about sellers asking for appraisals. Here is the text from the rules page:
"What's it worth" posts for personal instruments are limited to Supporting Members.
Yes, I feel like his post was more of a "should I buy this" post, which is half of talkbass. If he'd worded it a little differently it wouldn't have attracted any attention. Don't people post a lot of "is this a good deal" posts? It seems like it.

GAS reared its ugly head again. Succumbed to an '85 Foundation in Sunbust w/ Rosewood FB and SF pups. Everything is original, tuners, black ice cube control knobs w bands, etc. Plays great, looks great, setup & action are low and comfortable with no buzz. Neck is perfect with no ski jump or twist.
One issue,...truss rod seems frozen. Plenty of threads showing inside the hex. Should I just leave it alone or put a little persuasion into it to see if it 'will' move? If the latter, any recommendations on how to proceed? Liquid Wrench or ?
I'm using a Gibson 5/16" truss wrench It fits perfectly inside and around the hex head. Thanks

Thank you for the advice. Certainly don't want to open up a bag of worms for $hits and giggles if it's already playing well.
Leave it alone but im fairly certain you should loosen it 1st if the time comes..not sure about what sort of loosening agent is used.
If you are going to loosen it, you might just as well remove the nut, put two or three washers under the nut then a touch of Vaseline inside the threads of the nut and put the nut back on. That way you will be able to tighten the truss rod without it bottoming out. If you see a lot of threads sticking out of the nut currently it could be bottomed out. The washers will allow more turning without getting to the bottom.
Yea thats the way...i was referring to a potentially frozen nut if it will not loosen.
Just A quick up on bass pickups. If there are any EB players here I've been posting in the EB club. A few new offerings. Rebuild of the Korean pickups , original Gibson if anyone wants those rewound. And a option that fits under the chrome cover so many must have. Aftermarket covers are not available so the 916 Neo with screws fits under a existing cover.

If your looking for highs out of pickups that operate at 4000hz try running a .015uf capacitor..
Point of clarification…
The truss rod is not poking up thru the hex head bolt at all where the actual truss rod threads can be seen. If anything, the truss rod doesn’t have a lot of tension on it given the inner threads of the hex bolt that I can visualize. There seems to be at least 2-3 more turns I could make before the truss rod begins to poke out the top of the hex head bolt.
Oh..then you should do like DavidEdenAria said, and turn it counter clockwise first when the time comes if/when you want to tighten it.
I always go a little counterclockwise before turning clockwise.
Or you can take the truss rod nut off and dab a little bit of Vaseline inside the nut with a toothpick and put the nut back on.
The rod threads are probably a bit dried out/crusty after 38 years.
No picture no bass. It won't move cuz it ain't there cuz there's no picture and that's the first TB rule. LOL!
