My daughter ordered me a new pickguard for my Fury as a Christmas gift. The wait was long and it came a 90's era pickguard. I had to send it back and wait a while longer, but this time it came as the 80's split p version. Those guys at pickguard heaven are top notch.
I just aquired another "vintage" Peavey, a 1984 Fury. The maple fret board is starting to seperate at the heel.
Any suggestions on how to repair this ?
Well, pictures might help.
I'd take the neck off, find a way to inject glue around the heel, lay a flat piece of stock top and bottom and clamp it.
Sandwich the neck, top and bottom, in other words.

The B-90 is a very well made, great playing bass. The sound is just ok. The P-style pickup sounds great, but the J-pickup is weak. I replaced the J-pickup with a Bartlolini, and it sounds excellent now. These basses can be had w/case super cheap ($120 +/-), and at that price are a bargain.
I'm going to look at a mahogany/maple Patriot in a couple hours that someone is selling locally.

I may send it out there for a setup after I get it. I don't know how much setup work has gone into it up to this point or how badly it was abused. I should know in about 2 hours or so.
Edit: I got it. It's really nice. The seller (a super nice guy) is a player and kept it in good shape.

I have a chance to increase my US Peavey collection with a Forum P-Bass for about $80. She is black right now with a few nicks here and there in the body, but the neck is reaaly pretty maple and in great shape. I was thinking about buying it for a project and refinishing it and replacing all of the harware. The only parts that worries me a little is replacing the bridge. I would like to replace the current bridge with one thats a little more "beefy". Can someone tell me on how to do this or should I let my usual guy handle this part of the project since I will have him do the setup anyway.
Why? The bridge on my '66 Fender Precision is no more "beefy" than the Fury bridge - and I don't think you'll ever find a P bass that sounds better.
Refin away on the body. But, I'd leave the hardware alone until my ear told me there is something actually wrong with it.

No, I just meant that I've been playing bass for just a bit less than 2 years. Though, technically, I did buy my first bass around 6 years ago, I think (and it sat in its case for several years while I focused on learning and playing drums). Even at 6 years, I'm betting you were done dorking away long before then.

IMHO, if you've got the skills to refin, you can do setups as well. At least get it in the ballpark.
