Look what the UPS man brought today! This thing looks to be NOS. Everything is cherry, and the back covers still have the protective film on them! There was a clear decal of some kind around the controls, looked stock, but not great, so it came off. A little bummed because it has one of the necks that are painted or whatever... the graphite weave is only visible on the headstock. Still has the serial number sticker. Starts with a '10', so I'm guessing it's a 2000. Played it for a few with the roundwounds it came with, but will give it a longer go once I slap on some flats. Only came with a gig bag and not the case I thought it was coming with, but other than that, I dig this thing so far. I'll likely give it a try on a couple gigs this weekend!

One interesting thing- I thought the bridge was a Hipshot, but it looks like either an ABM or something Peavey made in house... def not Hipshot!

Yeah it's very sparkly... almost Marty Bell sparkly. I haven't seen many 5's in this color at all. Mostly black, sunburst and blue.
I have a 89 Foundation & the strings are in the bottom four holes in the bridge & the saddle screws are in the top four holes. The saddles are flat against the bridge & slant at a downward angle. Is this correct? I don't have any problems with the string height on the fretboard but, was wondering if there is any undue stress on the saddle screws being slanted

Thanks man! I just opened the battery compartment, and the batteries inside have a 'best by' date of 01-2004! I don't think anyone has owned this bass before. Pretty cool.
If it has the bridge I think it has, this sounds right...intonation screws - top holes, strings - bottom holes.
Can you post a pic? I'd like to see the angle thing.

Here is how it looks
This is correct but it looks like the saddles are all the way down on the bridge base plate. I recommend using the neck tilt to get some more angle on the neck so the saddles and pickups can be raised.

If the action is good (all up and down the neck), then don't you think it would be better to shim the neck and raise the saddles? It seems like using the neck tilt to allow you to raise the saddles would change the action. Make it too high on the higher frets.
Six of one and half a dozen of the other except for having to remove the neck and make and fit the shim.

As best I know there is no special name. You just have to look for the painted neck/fret board.
