Picked this up today. Late 80's Fury.
I have a Fralin P pickup on the way to drop in it.
Nice! Congrats. Looks nice!
Why? Have you already spent some quality time with it and determined the stock pickup just doesn't give the sound you want? What does it lack?
For the record, my Fury already had a Hi-A pickup in it when I got it, so I have no experience with the stock pickup.
I have a set of those I picked up cheap off ebay I used in a frankenbass.
I BELIEVE (ive been wrong before, a lot, so yeah, not fact) these were a transition between the Super-ferrites and the VFL pickups. Tonally they feel like single coils but much less noisy, not sure of the construction.
Personally I like them more than VFL but less than Super-ferrites.
I have heard they came in 93s and some 94s. I've also heard on here two conflicting stories people have gotten from peavey's customer service. In one camp, there was "its a super ferrite in a different piece of plastic casing" and in the other camp, there was "if it was a super ferrite, it would say so". I have never played them, so Im just being a messenger.
I personally prefer the Foundation. The Grind has a great slap tone, but to my ears the Foundation is better at everything else, and almost as good at slap.

It's been a good weekend for Peavey hunting. Walked into a pawn shop yesterday morning that is 2 miles from my house. Found this white '87 Foundation. Got it for $85 inc tax. Then today picked up the old Fury off of Craigslist for $75 including a Fender amp. I think I can get at least $50 for the amp. After a good cleanup and setup both play extremely well.
Now that's a good weekend. Congrats on your scores. Can't beat the prices.
