Yup, agree that Jazz basses are scooped. I like the sound of the neck pickup in a Jazz, don't care for the bridge pickup at all. I like the middy sound of P basses and the sound of a Bart 8s ...a little deeper bass sound also.

I think all the very good information and feedback here has got me thinking that a G4 would be worth picking up. The newer black neck sounds like it will be good and I would guess the basswood body is resonant and will offset the neck to be a good balanced sound. Glad to hear the bigger VFL sounds different from the VFL's in the Cirrus. Think I'm gonna buy it.
Agreed, the are really nice, friendly and they seem to really want to get you the stuff to keep their products working.
