Had my Peaveys out to weigh and decided to take a pic of my small but growing family.
I posted this elsewhere, but here is as good a place as any:
Since someone mentioned that Peavey is now out of stock on the Milly preamps, what have you fellow peavey nuts been happy with, when replacing preamps in peavey basses? I've got one Milly with the stock pre, one Milly pre brand new in a box, and four Cirrus pre equipped basses. One being a cirrus, three being GV basses. I don't HAVE TO replace anything. I'm just curious.
Also, and I may post this in the classified ads too: my latest GV is the holoflake finish. My least favorite color. As such, if anyone has a GV in another color, and really wants to trade bodies(loaded or not), let me know. Right now, I have one in charcoal, and one burst. Doesn't mean I'm not interested in those colors, so let me know what you might have.

I used an OBP-3 to upgrade a mediocre IMPORT Millennium (ik, ik, not USA) and it had a real nice transparent feel, even when boosting/cutting frequencies it sounded natural and almost passive. Granted, if you want character to a preamp, not gonna do that for you.
My USA peavey stuff is all passive so cant comment on US models with preamps

Just got GV#4 in. Posted a trade post in the classifieds. I want to keep the neck. If you have a GV or US Milly 5 body, and always wanted the holoflake finish, this might be for you.
Best I can tell the RJ IV was made from 1990 to maybe 1995. They were normally painted sunburst in pink, light blue or gray. That's the first Koa I've seen or heard of. Came with a Hipshot "D" tuner on the E.

Nice!! My first "purchased new" bass was a dyna unity koa. About '89 or so, 5-6 yrs into my playing career/hobby/habit/addiction.
Looking to start another Birdsong build and will have to sell some stock to finance.
What do you think this one would bring me? This is a brand new Foundation and even if I could not call it new legally it is pristine. No ware on the frets no factory blemishes. Still has the wood shop smell to it.

Man, that's a fine pair. The fretless koa had to be a special order. If the D-Tuner is a black Titian type from the factory, that is a rare bird. Hipshot didn't make many at all. What are the years and is the fretless fingerboard ebony? Looks dark enough.
FWIW.....the koa RJ IV is gone from Reverb. Hope someone here got it.
I can now confirm that there are at least three different levels of opacity to be had with the resin used on the GV necks. I'm not talking about where or who made them. There are still different versions of that. What I'm saying is that of the three necks I have in my hands right now, we have "mostly clear", wherein the weave is extremely visible. Next, we have "some black", where the weave isn't obvious unless looking with the right light. Then we have "none more black", which actually still does have areas where the weave is visible, mostly on the edge of the neck, and the transition areas, from the head to neck, and heel to neck. They all feel very similar. I like them. There's a reason I bought four of them inside of six weeks. I'll post pics of all four, once the fourth one arrives.

A true Flounder cut not a partial like some of the newer Peavey models that did not round the back side.
I swapped out the pickups for Barts but kept the originals if needed.
