There is a blue (rare?) Forum, single active humbucker, on Reverb for $219 + 70 shipping in OH. It looks like it's in phenomenal shape. I want to buy it so bad! I thought someone here might want to snag it so it goes to a home that will give it the love it deserves.

Would have been tempted if it actually was a 5. Would like a P/J 5 in the stable. Have a Foundation S and a Scorpio DE, so no need for another 4 P/J.

Understandable - I have a Foundation 5 that's been a real workhorse, and definitely a keeper

I've looked at that blue Forum about 40 times now since it popped up. If I needed a 4, it'd be mine. Really like the look of that bass....

Bullet cases are bigger and heavier but IMO do a much better job protecting basses in extreme situations. I had a bass take a crashing and bouncing trip down an external stairwell /fire escape over three stories and landed unscathed. Not many cases would have survived much less the bass.

they aren't that heavy

when we were bored (road life) we used to get hotel management approval to toss them out windows and belconies (different time in the world)... NEVER had a ding or failure... we had vandenburgs, impact, foundations, etc... all survived it.

A contour case can fit other makes and models... the lined were an extra fee.

To the best of my knowledge, these may be peavey only (or from a foreign market)... they were installed 86ish to 91ish... between the cast "Laser P" knobs.. and before the commodity knurled knobs.

The rubber rings are very rare after these years as many fell off...

Commonly you'd see them on Foundation, TL, Dyna, Patriot, Impact, arbitrarily they'd be on other models... cool... not collectable... just cool.

I'm having some issues with finding parts. Could any Peavey experts help me out?

The knobs that came on my Foundation seemed to be from a Cirrus; they're small and rubbery and were held on by some kind of rubber cement. I found a deal on Reverb.com for a bag of knobs, which included (according to the seller) 5 Peavey speed knobs. Here are the three from the stash I want to use:

The holes measure a hair wider than 3/16", which seems like they should work on the 3/16" split shafts on my bass. But, of course, they don't fit. The splines on the shafts prevent the knobs from coming on fully.

Now I'm wondering if I have the incorrect knobs or the pots have been replaced. Here's a shot of the control cavity (also not sure if that foil is stock):

Any ideas on what might be happening? Right now my options seem to be:

1. Drill out the knobs to fit the shafts, but they probalby won't fit exactly right.
2. Find new pots to match the knobs.
3. Find different speed knobs.

What's the least-drastic and cost-effective method to take to get this bass back to stock?

(Also, I ordered one of the custom truss rod covers in black pearl off eBay. It also doesn't fit exactly right, but I can drill a new pilot hole for the screw and it will be fine.)

Yeah, they're an amazing company. Website is here. Kind of a treasure house for engineers with *anything* you want for technology builds of all kinds. And they ship and deliver like lightening. Back in the day, this is what the catalog looked like, and you'd find one in every engineering lab or workshop. Thank God, it's now all electronic—but still mind-blowing.

Thought I'd share my current Peavey family photo. I had a 93 Foundation (black/maple) that I sold and replaced with this black/rosewood 85 Foundation fretless with matching headstock. It goes well with the 84. This is my first fretless, it plays and sounds just as we all expect from our Foundations. The neck and feel is pretty much the same as the 84, I have it strung with DR Sunbeams 45-105. The 84 has 45-105 Cobalt flats.

Those are some clean foundations... still boggles me that they have $180 worth of knobs on them.. Heck I remember when people laughed at T60s... now they're selling for more than the Gibson I just bought...

Nice basses... It's an interesting hardware combo... the rosewood neck had $50 in upgrade options...

That Koa is gorgeous! I've also been drooling over both of thise blue Forums. My wife even said if we didn't need to buy school supplies for the kids, she'd be okay with me getting one if them. Unfortunately, with four kids, we've spent enough for both of them or that RSB to stuff their backpacks and get new shoes instead.
