Fury for the Nirvana set used the T40 for the second set with a thunderbird eq. Which cut better. Was a pleasure to play Fingerstyle on but uncomfortable with a pick. Think I need a good practice with it to get the amp also set up for it.....

Might upset some folk but all my T40s only get used full humbucker mode.

I am thoroughly offended, good sir! I used mine with both pickups on as single coils and received a lot of praise at multiple venues.

I may be rooting for advice on classic 400 T40 combinations. For p bass I can dial it in no issues. Hopefully just a matter of playing around. It was a loud gig unfortunately so the 10s were protesting these may also have to be upgraded....the classic is very harsh on the cabs in the combination with a new bass it was eventful to say the least...

A few before and after pics of a project I just received yesterday. Frets were totally shot. But, the stickers were the bigger challenge! The whole neck is covered in dings (mostly the worm-trail impression type) and finish chips. My plan is to sand the neck (possibly just the back) refret and tung oil it. I’m kinda digging the worn look of the fretboard, which is why I may leave it and just sand and oil the back.

Picked up this 1979 T40 a couple days ago. For the age she's a great player with minimal issues and sweet sound. Extra info on the T40 Part 2 thread.

Well if you recall my truss rod issue a few days back... today I manufactured a truss rod wrench that would reach down far enough to get the truss rod nut, and I removed enough wood in the access area to get the wrench to the right angle. Got onto the truss rod and it was completely loose- it took me a bit to make sure I was even on it! I put some tension on (probably 1/2 turn or so), and tuned back up. Neck is straight as an arrow and beautiful!!!! I just need to tweak the saddles on the D and G and it will be set. What a cool bass!

Some before and after pics. Notice the wormy dings near the huge finish chipped area. There wasn’t a spot on the back of the neck that didn’t have these dents. I can’t begin to fathom how a neck gets so many dings.... oh well. I sanded until the neck was smooth like my ladies freshly shaved and oiled legs (schwing!), then tung oiled it. I’m so happy with the feel that I’m going to start doing it to all my basses ASAP!

I use Tru Oil gunstock finish as well as Tung Oil.....these Peavey basses seem to be either minty or sort of abused..........trussrod never being tightened is common as well.
