My made in USA Foundation Bass appears to have a one piece maple neck with rosewood (or similar) fretboard. Is that unusual for Foundations? The head stock has the embossed serial number, so it appears original.

I think all Foundation necks are two piece what Peavey call their Bi-Laminated, interesting if yours is a one piece any photos?

It depends on what year.
Peavey necks were two piece for a long time, eventually went to one piece around 1995 I think, so I'm not sure if Foundations were ever one piece.

The all maple necks were two pieces, the ones with rosewood fretboards were two pieces with the rosewood fretboard added.

My Foundation 5 with Maple fingerboard has a one piece neck.

I just checked, and the maple neck on my 90s Foundation 5 is two piece in the sense that Fender maple necks are: maple neck with an installed maple fretboard... That's how they get away from using a skunk stripe for the truss rod, short of the two piece maple necks Peavey made in the 80s...

Only six?? Ametuer.... Kidding, that's quite a few basses in a short period of time. You may have me beat. I have quite a few that don't get much play time. That's by design. I bought them to have them, not to play them.

Jedi I wouldn't worry about it, I've plenty never get played. Skinny neck Fury are just one example, Grind 5er another.

Do you have a chance to play it before buying?
My own Sarzo says in the rack. Great looking/feelin bass but I've never got a tone I could use. Last weekend when another Peavey player cam visiting I got her to try it.

Her opinion and I quote.

" plays great but it's got no balls!"

That is my thought too.,probably worked for the M TV-friendly 80's metal Sarzo played. The last few for sale in Europe all have had pickup /preamp swaps. Guess the nasal tone aint popular here.
I'm sure spendin time/money with strings/EQ pedals and preamps I might tame the highs but it's a damn sight easier and cheaper just to play a bass that works right off the bat. Overpriced and overrated IMHO.

Thanks. Ended up not trying it out. Seller had it in a giant flight case that he was determined to sell with it. I’m awash in case clutter, so that one’s a no-go fer sher.

+1 on all of the above - off the top of my head, I have a Gibson SG Bass, MIJ Fender Jazz Bass Special fretless, and Ibanez Artcore hollow body that rarely make it out of their cases since I got them - but I wanted them, so I bought them...

That's like me and my Squier MIJ SQ Precision. I played only it for about 3 months and now using my Fury again as a practice bass. To be fair the Squier needs some fret work although it has a great low setup.

I think I have over 15 basses, 8 are new purchases that I’ve not had time to really get to know. It’s time to test, rate, and cleanse.
