Yes, they came with non-EMG push/pull pots and the TW cables, but the solderless end had been cut to allow connection to the pots. I want to keep everything neat and easy. So, I’ve ordered two EMG pots, and they come with new cables. They should be here in a couple days.

So, each pickup’s volume pot will switch it’s pickup from single to dual. Should be a lot of fun and options.

I’m not a fan of P/J basses with pickup surrounds. But, I’m also not a fan of the routes looking sloppy. So, I may make some.

You can get these covers on eBay. I'm almost wondering if they would fit the EMG inside them... That's probably what I would do. Even if you have to slighty route the bass bigger still. It would be cleaner than a surround/plate

I knew $25 was the price to upgrade from all maple neck to rosewood fretboard.
But $25 is reeeeealy cheap to get a mahogany body, at that price I think they would/should have sold tons of them!
And the total for the bass new was $225 in 1988? ...really? ...that's cheap.

Koa some times get beaten... ensure the neck is straight.

PJ pickups sometimes will need to be reglued - Any chances there are pix... that can tell a ton more than the spec.

The differences between the Dyna Unity and the Unity, from experience:

Dyna:
Dyna preamp
Ebony board
Schaller bridge

Unity:
Passive
Rosewood board
Generic high mass bridge

They feel very similar. I've five Dyna unity basses, three of which I still have. I have one passive Unity. It's not going anywhere, but I do prefer the Dyna Unity.

I need to replace the tuners on my '92 Palaedium. The tensioning screws are nearly stripped out, the nylon washers were missing when I bought it, I've since replaced them, but these tuners are toast. They don't hold tune well without tightening so much that I can't even turn them. I suspect that's why the nylon washers were destroyed.

I'm looking at Gotoh GB7s, but I can't distinguish the difference between [TK 0923-002

One says "straight string post", the other, nothing. Aren't all string posts "straight"?

I assume the string post on the TK 0923-002 has a concave or reverse tapered profile so that the top of the post has a larger diameter than the middle of the post. It looks like Gotoh publishes technical specs and diagrams, so you could contact them to ask.

Later today, USPS will be dropping off a sheet of black pickguard material, and my EMG pots and cables. I just got back from buying some cutting accessories for my Dremel. If all goes well, I hope to have pickup surrounds cut and mounted, and the push/pull pots installed and hooked up to the TWs, by the end of the weekend.

I want to play the TL-5 at Wednesday night’s rehearsal, and possibly at next weekend’s gig.

True, but I can’t rehearse with it looking like it did with those jazz pickups.... just too ugly! And, I never made the surrounds before finding the TWs. So, plans changed, and she will be much more attractive and versatile with the TWs!

As for rehearsal, I was in 3 bands a few weeks ago, with gigs scheduled for all 3. I was a fill-in, in one. Another (a mostly country band) wanted me to fill in at first, then later said I had the option of full time (guess they had to check me out first haha). The 3rd band is my main thing that I helped form a few years ago. Recently, my good buddy quit his main band and resumed playing with the first band I mentioned. And now, I have so many shows coming at me with my main band that I don’t think I have time to play with the country band (2nd one mentioned).

So, the rehearsal is with Kategory Five, the band I helped form... my main squeeze if you will. We are finally getting the attention locally that we deserve! We have the best female voice in the area, and a band (3 guys) with 30 years experience each. It’s been hard to crack through the long list of stale regular bands that have dominated the cover band scene, but we are starting to see our goal and make a little cash. My plan is to start landing the weddings and corporate gigs where we each go home with a few hundred bucks in our pockets.

That's great! We've recently landed a few more country club/private party gigs which we are really enjoying. I usually make $125 a night at a bar gig which goes to 1 am...home by 2 if lucky. The most recent country club gig pays $225 per man, only 2 one hour sets and done at 10 pm due to noise ordinances....this seems to be a common cut off time for most of them. They always have a built in great crowd....a lot of them not "dive bar" people but big partiers. Fun times.

I've also got a country band thing I'm subbing which is like brain dead city...root/5th all night. I try to spice it up with some walking lines just to stay awake. And yes, we play Wagon Wheel.
