I am always amazed at folks that change the electronics in Millennium or Cirrus basses. The OEM electronics are one of the reasons these basses are so good. I would wait for one to pop us that is all original.

Nothing at all wrong with the existing setup. Currently with 2 Millis, 3 Cirrusses, and a GV.

The only mod done to any of them is the Milli pre I swapped into the Maple Cirrus. I like to add in some low mid, given the option. Not in a rush to change the Walnut or Bubinga topped ones.

TOTALLY agree 100% !! Relsom is just going from Cirrus to Milli, so that is just a parallel move. So that's OK But to get rid of the pre altogether and pups makes no sense. The VFL's are amazing, as we've discussed many times here before, and the pre is near perfection. NO ice pick highs at all. That scores HUGE in my book. Highs are warm. I found that the Cirrus pre is on par with Mike Pope pre's.

Hey Tim - I've been curious about the Trace Elliot Elf. Seems like you can't go wrong with sticking an amp in your gig bag - Imagine saying that in the 80's or 90's ! How's the tone ? TE trademark tone ? Or new Peavey owned tone ?

They're interesting. I mount them to the back of cabinets... elf creates some issues as the fan is on the top.

Sound... the EQ is articulate class D. I'm unsure if a "normal" person could tell the difference between Hartke, GK and Trace.

I'd argue, it's a little more rugged than GK (knobs etc)...

Biggest Benefit is that it has 1/4 outs (my 2 gig cabs are both 1/4 - not speakon)

I'll be doing a side by side in a few weeks.

With the exception of the Pedulla, this Cirrus blows them all away for comfort, playability, sound and quality of build. This one will stay with me! I have changed all the gold hardware out to black (I don't like gold hardware), added Dunlop straplocks and TI Jazz Flats. Perfect!

I've got more than my fair share of amps. I'm a big advocate of "there is no such thing as bad gear" unless it's just built poorly. I've found that some of these amps play nice with certain basses and some play nice with certain cabs. It's mainly why I scratch my head when somebody dumps on gear because it didn't work for them.

(Edit - I'm probably the only guy that will tell you that the "Ampeg Sound", is a myth. )

Congrats !! It's not hard to believe that the Cirrus out performs most of your collection. I had the opportunity to play a few $10,000 Fodera's - They felt like a Cirrus.
All but one of my Cirrus's (Cirri) are black hardware now. I love it.

Amps? Yes, I have some!

I use a little Roland Cube 100 at church. It is aimed at me and I use it as a stage monitor and a line goes to the house system. Sounds fantastic. It is an amazingly great little combo.

I have a TC Electronic BG250-210 that I used recently on a gig where I doubled on upright and electric. It sounded great with my Millennium Plus 5. By the way, the tone print is pretty much just two knobs I keep turned off. Lousy sounding effects IMO.

My big rig is a pair of Aguilar GS 112's powered by one of several heads. Lately I have been favoring my Aguilar AG 700 and that is one great sounding and loud rig. I also own and use some Genz Benz Shuttle and Shuttlemax heads that I use when the mood hits me. They also sound wonderful and have great power through the GS 112's.

I also own a pair of Aguilar SL 112's and use them for upright bass with an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500. They sound fine for upright but I much prefer the GS 112's for electric bass.

Then there is a Phil Jones C4 that I use with the TH 500 for upright in small rooms where floor space is limited. It is a very fine sounding cabinet and a joy to transport due to its light weight and small size.

The amp in my rehearsal room is an Aguilar GS 212 that I no longer care to move about. It is usually powered by one of my Genz Benz Shuttle heads and my 9.0 has been the one for the last 3 months or so. Sounds great.

Genz, Aguilar, and PJB... all brands I have grown to love over the years. I don’t own any PJB stuff, but a close friend has a collection, which includes some monstrous cabs. Those cabs will blow you off the stage while blowing your mind with their clarity and punch. I don’t want any > 150 pound cabinets. So, I’ve never bought any like his. I stick with more traditional cab designs.

The GV, Millenium, and Cirrus interchange. (Am I missing any other 35” basses)

I often use compartmentlesss cases, fairly common sizes...

My PV GV shipped in a Fender chainsaw case and it fit just fine. My heart skipped a beat because I saw his ad for a green Mill (the finish I want) but, the aftermarket electronics just kill it for me. Like vintage Ibanez guitars, I really wish people left these Peavey's alone. For crying out loud, just take care of them.

Has anyone tried flatwounds on a Dyna Bass Unity and cares to share?

I think my cheap Dyna, plus my expensive Zon fretless, and a 5 string no one might ever buy might be enough basses for me and all the rest might go.

no sense just hoarding them in a closet. If the Dyna works good with the flats that will by my next step to ending BHPD.

it’ll be my backup to the Zon — the lust of my bass life.

I still love my old Foundation S. I played the hell out of it back in the day and it has the battle scars to prove it. Mine is the Pearl White. My hands sweat so much the chrome has come off the saddles on the bridge and I used to wipe it down before it went back in the case even then.

I think I've got some pics around. I'll have to post them up.

This Gator case fits every bass I have tried except MM Bongo. It works great for the 35" Peavey basses.
