Yeah I'm not feeling the pickguards either, but if you get in on them close they appear to be attached with double sided tape and thankfully not screws. I'm just not a burst finish guy.

The Axcelerator was Korean pickups/preamp. VFLs in my early Cirrus are marked "Axcel". VFLs were designed in the US but produced in Korea. Cirrus/Millennium preamps were the same,designed in the US/built in Korea.
When you dig deeper you find very few parts on a USA Cirrus are USA. Canadian nut/German bridge etc. Might explain the "Location 2" stickers as opposed to "Made in ...","Crafted in ..."
It's been my experience that the tonal difference between BXP Cirrus and US Cirrus is no more than one would expect to find between say 2 Precision basses.No 2 basses off the same production line sound exactly alike.On her drive up for a visit a friend picked up a "darkwood" BXP 5'er. Back the Gillian owned 3 US Cirrus and I had 4,you can bet we were pretty fierce in our A/B. Conclusion was it looked like a Cirrus,sounded like a Cirrus.
Cost her just £200

Don't forget it can also be a bonus. Thinking you hold a better instrument has an impact on how you play
I love P/Js too. Much more than straight Ps. I don't drink the Kool-Aid in regards to that J pickup and extra potentiometer making the pure P tone bad.

So does that still hold true then? Are the pickups that are in, say an import Millennium 5 BXP AC the same as a US Cirrus 5?
I'd think it's highly likely. Peavey had standardised production, same pickup and cavity cut outs, same covers,same neck pockets. It makes zero business sense to use Korean pickups then change over to US produced versions.
And that is along the lines of what I was thinking. If you're already manufacturing them overseas why change when you start building the whole darn thing overseas.

I'm going to ask Matt if we can do a flame-roasted maple neck with a graphite nut. Curious to see if he can beef up the support (graphite rods?), and we what we turn up. It played well and sounded good at the gig last Saturday. The bass sounds beastly paired with my GK 550 Fusion.
T40 weight? Now i nabbed a 1984 blade pup on GC site for $450 shipped a few min ago. Great shape w case. But they put it on a scale. 11.6lbs..... ugh i like mine 9 or under..... should i get a beefy strap or cancel the order!
I've been playing it thru my new GK Plex and my 400RBII. I agree mine seems to really like my GK's.
My 2 cents....don't use it as a gigging bass, just enjoy it seated. That's a good price.
I've only gigged my T-45 once. I've rehearsed my T-45 but haven't gigged with it yet. A padded strap might help but, it all depends if you have it centered high or low.
