The Axcelerator was Korean pickups/preamp. VFLs in my early Cirrus are marked "Axcel". VFLs were designed in the US but produced in Korea. Cirrus/Millennium preamps were the same, designed in the US/built in Korea.
When you dig deeper you find very few parts on a USA Cirrus are USA. Canadian nut/German bridge etc. Might explain the "Location 2" stickers as opposed to "Made in ...","Crafted in ..."
It's been my experience that the tonal difference between BXP Cirrus and US Cirrus is no more than one would expect to find between say 2 Precision basses. No 2 basses off the same production line sound exactly alike. On her drive up for a visit a friend picked up a "darkwood" BXP 5'er. Back the Gillian owned 3 US Cirrus and I had 4,you can bet we were pretty fierce in our A/B. Conclusion was it looked like a Cirrus, sounded like a Cirrus.
Cost her just £200
