She claims this piece's value is based on it's artistic appeal and not necessarily Les' signature or the exotic materials...yet the artist's name is not in the title of the sale and, in fact, appears at the end of the description...almost as an afterthought.

TBers! Does this description fit you?

- "Your an idiot."
- You're "broke, jelous and senseless"?
- Do visit this "blog" a lot?
- Do you have no appreciation for craftsmanship?
- Are you worth less financially than an obscure artist named Nathan?
- Are you a "moron", and also a "dikhead"?
- "Your not cool"?

Then this is for you!

Join the "Broke Aces", TB's latest group!

(Perhaps she meant to call us broke a$$es?)

I give you the Flora Aurum. $250K.

If Claypool autographed one of those, the owner would be worth more than several first world countries!

I do apologize for my bad grammar and misspellings. I guess that is what I get for sending a frustrated rant on a mobile phone. The forum is not mobile friendly for very long posts as I was having a very hard time trying to scroll down to see my fastly created words past the first seven lines.

But all the horrible spelling and hastily placed insults were a response to the hatefulness that spewed from the losers who posted unjustified name calling. I am sure not all people who read and post on this forum are as child like. I think it is entertaining that someone calls me a nincompoop because they had their guitar signed in a place that is OBVIOUSLY unsignable on this peice- and they definately deserve names thrown back. Well, I guess I should be the more adult and not return names, but I am sure they are all true.

I have not gone to any profile page here, so the default sex is male.

You apologize for calling us names while you simultaneously call us losers. You're either completely ignorant of all things bass guitar and/or art, or you're trying to scam someone. Those are the options. All this in my opinion of course. It's entirely possible you're not a nincompoop and we're all "broke aces".

Excuse me? How is commenting on an ebay listing (a site that has nothing to do with this site) name calling? People on this site were commenting on your absurd piece of art or bass or whatever the hell it is on ANOTHER SITE. Of course there were some comments about the lister. Nobody ever called you anything because nobody knew who you were/are.

You come to another site (this one) to defend this piece of poo poo you are trying to sell. Or defend your honor which you have zero. You decide to come in here and blast away at everyone with nothing but real insults towards everyone.. You would have had a case if people from this site posted insults in your ebay listing. Nobody did that.

I will tell you something else toots. Most of the people here could buy and sell you ten times over.

... If you don'tthink it is worth the price compared to all the junk, you're just broke, jelous and senseless.

The price is not high because of the autograph, but because the artist is that good. Please show me a more creative bass with half the materials this piece uses. ...

Lady, if you think you can insult this knowledgeable community into believing that is a pro-level instrument worth the price of a house, then you're clearly clueless in more respects than one. If LC signed it I'd chance a guess it was because he found it humorous. Maybe you should just try to pass it off as sculpture to some artsy trust fund kid with a Primus fixation.

Anyhow, one thing sturgeon are notable for is their lack of scales.

ED: The Broke Aces might be a good band name, though...

I am the lister, so all previous names are directed at me. But I do appreciate the original poster pasting the ad in this forum. It makes our webpage rankings higher everytime we are mentioned.

I am not a musician (if you could not tell). I have just dedicated my life to helping children, animals, and disabled individuals. If we can not sell it for $200000 after relisting it several times, we will take the $23000 offer, however I feel confident we can get more. If you feel it is ugly, that is fine, everyone has different taste, but to call people soulless, stupid, nincompoop, when we live our lives the best we can is uncalled for.

There are too many misinformative postings on this thread to correct. Where to even start, and why,

Sold- it is not ever listed as sold. it is listed as unsold. When godzilla man emailed me that I can not charge a downpayment ( which sounds reasonable to me) I tried to change it to auction. After less than 14 hours total of being listed, I called eBay who said try unlisting and relisting to see if the auction tab shows up. That did not work, within only a few hours of unsuccessfully trying to change the relisted item to an auction, eBay said try unlisting it and selling a similar item. So, within 24 hours the item was listed twice as buy it now and then finally at an auction.

But Godzilla already had the run down and chose not to post this several days ago. If you don't understand, please contact me through my website at http://www.theothersideofthefence.org

Here is some constructive criticism:

  • If you are going to sell a $200,000 piece of art...use the artist's name in the listing title.
  • If you are going to sell a $200,000 item signed by a celebrity, and use that celebrity's name in the listing title...have the signature validated before listing.
  • If you are going to sell a $200,000 instrument without any knowledge of that type of instrument...find a consultant to help you field the questions you will be undoubtedly having to answer (it's not acceptable to say "I don't know anything about basses" when you are asking such sums).

The listing mentioned as sold was from another ebayer's listing...not yours. DiabolusInMusic was confused.

Nice plug for your site.

Value-

Let me clarify. The value was based on it by well meaning volunteers who spent hours looking at bass guitars and art of all sorts. Just like the dog everyone else thinks is ugly, someone will come in and see that it is actually the sweetest and most behaved baby. Even though you think it is ugly, I know others will love it.

Why we chose this: Because the materials are unique, the design is creative, and the artist is awesome. Because it will be forever burned into the minds of every one who sees it, unlike the other production line looking bass'. Because 25% after paypal and ebay fees plus federal Income taxes (not including materials as some have implied).

It is fully functional and sounds great. When this listing expires we will have better photos, and a recording, so stay tuned.

I am sorry but you spent hours looking at what basses to come up with that figure? Jerzy Drozd is widely considered to make bass art, his name is well respected and highly regarded in the field, his pieces are worth nowhere near that. Did you look at Jens Ritter's one $250,000 bass and think yours was just as good? I am sorry but Jens Ritter is again a world respected name in the field of bass and it is doubtful even he got that much for his bass.

Nathan Stipek is a no name, nobody who makes basses, anybody who spent hours looking at stuff should be able to find out real quickly that no name, a.k.a home builds are rarely worth the wood they are made out of since nobody is willing to take the chance.

You can attempt to defend plain old fashioned greed all you want but please don't try and act like this is something other than that.
