Based off of a 1981 photograph by Brian Aris, the album cover for Koo Koo by Deborah Harry was designed by HR Giger, a renowned Swiss German artist who also designed the special effects for the Alien Movies, as well as album covers by the Dead Kennedys.

Having found this album at a consignment store last month, I would also like to mention that he also drew the private parts on the cover for ELP's Brain Salad Surgery, another album I own and appreciate.

In an article in Guitar Player magazine (July 2007) Randall was asked what rig he used to record the solo on "Reelin' in the Years". Before Simon & Garfunkel used their real last names for their act, they released their first record under Big Records as Tom & Jerry at age 15 for both of them. Garfunkel named himself Tom Graph, a reference to his interest in mathematics. Simon named himself Jerry Landis, after the surname of a girl he had dated. Their first single, "Hey Schoolgirl", was released with the B-side "Dancin' Wild" in 1957. Promoter Sid Prosen, using the payola system, bribed DJ Alan Freed $200 to play the single on his radio show, where it became a nightly staple. "Hey Schoolgirl" attracted regular rotation on nationwide AM pop stations. It eventually sold over 100,000 copies and making it to #49 on the Billboard pop chart.

Prosen promoted the group heavily, getting them a headlining spot on Dick Clark's American Bandstand alongside Jerry Lee Lewis. Simon and Garfunkel shared approximately $4,000 from the song – earning two percent each from royalties, the rest staying with Prosen. They released two more singles on Big Records ("Our Song" and "That's My Story") neither of them successful.

Jim Peterik of the Ides of March was 18 when he sang Vehicle. In an interview he states:

At the time, I was madly in love with this girl named Karen. I had a souped-up 1964 Plymouth Valiant and she was always asking for rides. I drove her to modeling school every week. I was hoping flames would ignite, but they didn't. I came home one day, dejected, and thought: all I am is her vehicle. And I thought: Wow! Vehicle! I came up with this song, taught it to the band, and the next thing I knew, we were recording in the studio.

Peterik had an on-again/off-again relationship with the woman after the song came out, and they eventually wed.
