What connection did The Archies have to Barry Manilow?

Ron Dante (born Carmine John Granito), who was the lead singer of The Archies, The Cufflinks, and was in The Detergents, and did many other projects, was the co-producer for Barry Manilow's first nine albums which all went gold or platinum sales status and he was an occasional backup vocalist on some of Barry's songs.

I was once at the QVC studios in Secaucus. One of the rooms had Manilow’s band rehearsing. They were tight tight tight. Unbelievably so.

Barry Manilow played piano for Bette Midler at the Continental Baths in New York. He also served as Midler's album producer and was the musical director for Midler's "The Divine Miss M" tour. Manilow worked with Midler from 1971 to 1975.

It is One More Story. I believe she was uncredited on the track Scherezade for contractual reasons. Credited as Lulu Smith.

When he was much younger he helped to develop an amplifier with his friend “Gar” Garnet Gillies. Randy states that when he was growing up he started by playing violin and he loved the sustaining sound of the instrument. When he switched over to guitar he found that by plugging a small amplifier into a bigger amplifier he could get a sustaining sound.

Bachman experimented with taking the “power out” wires that went to the speaker and plugging them into the input of the larger amp, however found out that continued use of this technique resulted in damage to the larger amplifier. He took his amps to his friend Gar who owned a radio/TV repair shop and was a musician.

Gar told him what he was doing and was told he was crazy and this could be dangerous. So Gar helped to help him accomplish this in a safer and less destructive way. What resulted was a tube pre-amp which when added to another amp gave the desired sound.

Most of the available amps were Fender amplifiers and the pre-amp just did not sound right with the Fenders. So Gar got some parts from Heathkit and built an amplifier to go along with the pre-amp unit. The resulting amplifer and its sustain feature is the sound heard on American Woman, No Time and other Guess Who songs.

Randy and Gar decided they needed a name to go on the amplifier. Bachman was reading a book at the time that said Herzog across the cover and decided that was the name for the amplifier.

Later on Gar went into business for himself and built amplifiers and cabinets with the name Garnet on their fronts.

That could make an interesting tangent to this thread -- or perhaps worthy of an entire thread all its own? What were the pseudonyms used by famous recording artists when contractual obligations forbade them from using their real names? (or forbade them from using their well-known stage names)

The first that come to my mind are Flo & Eddie, who couldn't record with Frank Zappa under their real names (Mark Voman and Howard Kaylen) because of legal entanglements from their tenure in The Turtles.

Speaking of Zappa, keyboardist George Duke -- who played with Zappa from 1970-1975 -- appears on several albums under the pseudonym Dawilli Gonga.

I vaguely recall it as L'Angelo Mysterioso, credited with playing rhythm guitar on Cream's "Badge".

Regarding the scar on Roger Daltrey's stomach:

The scar has been with Daltrey since the age of three, when he swallowed a rusty nail that had to be surgically removed and thus left the visible scar. At the age of five, the rust from the nail caused an ulcer in his stomach which again required him to be hospitalized.
