Vegetarian Club Anyone?

Irony FTW.

This thread needs this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pescatarian

I'm no vegetarian, but when when I here sushi described as vegetarian food makes me cringe a bit. (Well admittedly
sushi is the rice, but dishes are ofthen associated with fish).

Random Dude: Hey man, I'm a vegetarian.
Me: Is that a fish sandwich you've got?
Random Dude: Yes
Me: *sigh*

Fakin Bacon (for bacon and veggie sandwiches etc)

marinate thinnly sliced tofu strips in liquid smoke and soy sauce overnight.

cook in frying pan

add to sandwich with cucumber, sprouts etc

(this is not the exact recipe. I am not a cook, but wife does something like this... experiment a little?)

Warning: Fakin Bakin sandwiches are addictive and really not that healthy (high salt content).

if anyone is looking for some vegan Christmas cookie recipes, let me know. i have a bunch i've tweaked over the years that use no eggs (en-r-g egg replacement) and not butter (willow run margarine).

I've made a very nice vegan creme brulee in the past. It's fun.

Last year's Christmas dinner was grilled tempeh in a cabernet-port reduction, with garlic mashed potatos, pureed butternut squash, seared rainbow chard and a celery root remoulade. Dessert was an apple pie. All ingredients were organic and local, and the entire meal was vegan. It was quite good.

*Note: One time I tried making vegan marshmallows. Utter disaster. It did not go well.

On a similar note, I've found that zapping Frichik with a defibrillator wont make it get up and walk.
LOL!!!

Yeah, mine were quite simply a disaster. Vegetarian marshmallows are easy to make, just sub the gelatin for something like agaragar or some other stabilizer. For what it's worth, www.veganessentials.com has fantastic vegan marshmallows.

Actually, Im not familiar with anyone who likes Spam, so I would say no. On the other hand, Frichik with proper seasoning is one of very few things I will eat til Im sick-although I never have because its not that cheap. My mother makes a breading (which I have since mastered making-but couldnt tell you quantities cuz I do it by taste) out of corn meal and buscuit mix, and an assortment of spices-makes it yummy!
