Vertical cab stacking---the only way to play

Bill, where would you put the tweeter?

Will something like this work? Or is there a better way?

It would be best to have the tweeter on the same vertical line as the woofers, but if you can't put it at the top of the cab as close to the adjacent woofer as possible, Should you ever build another for stacking place its tweeter on the same vertical plane but at the bottom of the cab, so that when stacked the two tweeters will be as close to each other as possible.
Also, is diagonal really that bad? I thought that it would be better than conventional horizontal design.
Diagonal is better than horizontal, not as good as vertical.

If you wouldn't mind commenting on my rigs in regards to the speaker/driver compliment and arrangement. I like them well enough, but after reading this 'vertical' thread I wonder how the stacks or indivdual cabs' design "stack up" ?

The 4ohm 212 3-way has a tweet and 6" mid
The 4ohm 115 has a tweet.
The 8ohm 112 3-way has a tweet and 5.5" mid.

I stack a pair of eden 2x10's vertically and it is great! I have been doing this with various cabs for a long time. It gets the sound up in the air, you still have coupling to the floor for low end and it takes up alot less space on a stage.

Having a midrange greatly reduces the need for vertical woofers, and if crossed over low enough eleminates that need entirely, so your woofers are not a concern. The way pictured I'd turn the tweeter in the 15 off, it's too far away from that of the upper cab and they're not on the same vertical axis. In the second shot the 1x12 should be placed upside down so that the mids/tweeters of the two cabs are on the same vertical. That also puts the tweeters in a M-T-T-M alignment, which improves vertical pattern control.

I do turn off the tweet on the 115 when using it with the 212.
The 112 should easily flip over... guess the horizontal port doesn't matter being on top then.

My $0.02 (of course, I know nothing compared to Bill F.), for the 1x12 + 2x12, if you don't want to flip the top cab, you can try turning the 2x12 midrange and tweeter control all the way down and possibly increasing the settings on the 1x12 midrange and tweeter (of course, the settings on the 1x12 would be to your own preferences -- if you already cut the HF on both units, then just set the upper midrange and tweeter to whatever sounds best to you -- as long as you turn the lower cab's midrange and tweeter all the way down, you should avoid multi-driver interference).

Correct.

I was just thinking that some people (but definitely not all) prefer the higher frequencies closer to ear level (and also that some of that 6dB loss could be added back by adjusting the attenuators on the top cab's mid and tweet controls -- if so desired).

Bill, how low is low enough? Also, is the "low enough" crossover point different for cabs with 12" vs 15" woofers?
