I know you're not the hugest filter or comp guy, but I would be really interested in hearing from someone on those points. I already have a chicken-or-the-egg problem with the comp/filter/synth stuff at the beginning of my chain. I figure this is going to be in that mix, I'm just not sure how yet.

Looking forward to the demo if you can swing it. If I don't get to open this thing until Christmas I'm going to need something to get me by...

When you think about it, this is a bass-oriented pedal and there are no bass demos on the VFE site yet :)

Anyway, I put mine at the end of the dirts, before the OFD, Manta, Orbital. It's in my D loop (WP Blender) so it can either be in parallel or serialized either way with my OD loop. I should also say that I have plenty of dirt before and after the looper so it is hard to say where it is in my chain.

When you do get it, keep in mind that the "bottom" knob can influence the fuzz. It can be a bit tricky to dial in the first time. It's definitely not a simple 3 knob brassmaster.

To me the bottom knob is a great idea. It already has a clean level (not really a blend, it's more of a mix where the clean and fuzz level can be boosted). However, the bottom lets you mix in just a low pass filtered signal. With the EQ on the new one, I don't think I have ever had any fuzz pedal capable of retaining/adding so much low end.

How does it respond to dynamics? I actually very frequently DON'T want pedals to respond too much to dynamics. That's why I go compressor early on. You can see my chain in my signature, but after the Drop, I go into the Manta (the only place I really want dynamics to influence the sound), then compressor (to tame any Manta peaks and give a consistent signal to the rest of the chain, including my synths which are next).

I'm considering putting this first so that I can make it synth-y in front of the Manta.

Is there even a guitar demo somewhere? I've looked and didn't find anything obvious.

IME, the fuzz is pretty well compressed and doesn't really respond much to dynamics. Whether you're playing loud or soft, the fuzz volume, and much of its character, stays the same. However, I do find that the "bottom" does respond to dynamics. If you play softly it can sort of disappear behind the fuzz, or loudly, it can provide tons of thump on top of the fuzz. Of course, it all depends on where your knobs are set.

Re: demos - The Woodchipper was never really a regular product for Peter. There seem to be very few v1s in the wild, and it seems virtually all of the v2s are in the hands of TBers. So I doubt there are any demos out there for bass or guitar... until one of us makes one...

Thanks. For what I'm thinking of, that's a good argument for putting it early---if it's compressed, I don't need it after a compressor, and I can put it in front of the Manta for synth purposes.

I have a v1 ;) Peter told me I should hang in to mine, it could end up being extremely rare. Not like it matters, my WC will be staying on my board for some time. cant wait till practice this week. I dont think there is anything wrong with mine but it seems as though I have to crank the output on my WC to get it to regular volume. I dont remember it ever being that way. Maybe its just something Im doing different with my setup. I hope. I also have the EHX hot tubes nano and Vick 85 Rat to try out :)

Where's mine in the chain ... it's not. :oops: I'll give it another go in the Wonderlove loop for synth sounds, tried it for a bit and wasn't too happy but maybe I need to give it another chance and tweak the knobs more. For bass fuzz it's way too much for me though, a TFR or similar "nice" fuzz is about what I can handle at this stage of my fuzz career. :)
