I got my very first Vigier these days. Its a Passion II with a carbon neck. It plays just fantastic with a very smooth neck and just 7.7lbs. The sound is typical for this type of bass - modern, enormous attack and endless sustain without any dead spots. Its quite in the range of a Status Series II. Vintage purists won‘t be happy, but lovers of modern sounds will do.
I just love it!

Are there/is there any recommended dealer or online source for Vigier Basses in the US? I actually live in Medellin Colombia, but I could work a purchase into a trip back to the US in the future.
I am specifically interested in a fretless, and at this moment I am more interested in the Excess Surfreter with the 90/10 neck. Thanks

It is a 1987 Vigier Passion full carbon fiber neck. The PBJ has a wonderful deep rich tone that offers a roundness to the Vigier

If there is one your choice will be very limited as Vigier are no longer open for business.

Patrice announced his retirement last year, March 2022 saw the order book closed. This would allow 18 months to complete all orders and padlock the gates before the end of 2023. The last Vigier bass has either already been completed or is in the process of being completed as I type.

Hello my Vigier fam... Just poking around YouTube and ran across The Knack with Prescott Niles on bass.. Couple of things. Gotta give the Vigier love there.. Also some great SWR love for those of us still using SWR.

My Vigier has a new set of strings finally! Bought her over a year ago.. Brought it out to play some Blue Grass and I really hate round wound strings on fretless. So she is now dressed in a set of D'Addario ECB81 45-100 flats... Now she is singing properly

End of an era.
After 44 years of activity, Patrice Vigier is about to retire.

He doesn't take orders anymore. He will close doors once the current log is clear.
He says he didn't want to sell the company and prefers the brand to retire with him.
He's open to licensing for his numerous patents, including the Excalibur vibrato (now manufactered by Schaller), 90/10 necks and delta metal fretless boards.
