Virginia Bassists

Newport News, VA. Stationed at Langley AFB!

My dad worked with the F106s back in the day at Langley, I was flying the old F106 simulator at the age of 13. Taking off was easy, landing that thing was a different story, you couldn't see out the front of the canopy. I grew up in Poquoson and from my bedroom I could see across the Poquoson River to the LAFB runway. I used to watch the F15s and F16s take off all the time. When ever they would break the sound barrier the boom would rattle our windows. We called that the sound of Freedom! Thank you for your service!

I didn't play bass when we were in school although I played in a band (N-Decent X-Posure) with Gregg Mitchell and Milton Wiggs. I'm doing well, managing a credit union here in Roanoke, VA. How 'bout yourself?

Let's see I recognize Rita Cody, Duane Jones, Jeff Blackwell, you, Jeff Roberts, and Bryan Forrest. Is that Tinker Anderson up on the top row beside Napoleon Dynamite?

Awesome dude, how have you been? I didn't realize you played bass back in school. I dug this picture up a little while back, do you remember any of this rough crew?

Lol, he does look like Napoleon, that's not Tinker, it is one of Louisa Darby's brothers. Wow, Greg and Milton, I haven't seen those guys since high school. I remember David Topping used to try to play a little guitar along with Donte Firman.

My wife and I just bought the Association Management Company we have been working for, for her 22 years and for me 13 years. http://www.imiae.com. We manage professional associations.

Donte Firman, we borrowed his P.A. one time. He always had the equipment, like Rudy on Fat Albert. Played an impromptu set with Gregg about a year ago in Poquoson and it was amazing that we just clicked along like it was 30 years ago (of course, we were bad then too). Always loved playing with Gregg, we just got along really good.

Checked out your website, never even knew that kind of organization existed but that is really cool. I wish my brother Lance still lived in the RDU area I might be able to catch you giggin' sometime.

Thought I'd bump our Virginia Bassists thread and see what you guys are up to this Summer...

Here's where my Saturday gig was last weekend - the Rutledge Manor, in Dublin, Va. (Wedding Reception) Between sets, I roamed through the house and marveled at the antebellum architecture and woodwork.
