It's fretted with chrome hardware. A long time to wait, but should be worth it.
It looks like the same case without the Wal logo on the side. I work in a music shop and have 2 of these cases in stock at a similar prIce. I'm not back at work till Wednesday, but can double check the code and price. By the sound of your member name, would I be correct in saying you live in Australia?

Definitely worth it, and the wait, Sycamore facings, ebony fingerboard, w/chrome hardware, gloss body/gloss neck, sounds and looks like a winner, congratulations!

Does anyone know of any other compatible MK1 aftermarket cases? The Deluxe Gator case this came in is about 2 inches too long for the body cavity.

The standard Hiscox case is the same thing you would have gotten back in the 2000-2005 period.
I've previously used tolex P Bass and StingRay cases, both older tolex and modern plastic. I now have an SKB Freedom that fits perfect and I use because I don't like taking the old fiberglass Wal cases out of the house.

Taking my Wal out of the house, I'll either use the hiscox or my Sadowsky Portabag- mostly this since its helluva lot easier to transport. Fiberglass stays home.
My spare fretless neck is available (MkI '86). I'll be putting it in the classifieds now.

I got it As part of a trade. Apparently two of the knobs broke when it was shipped to Brett. There were a couple of other little surprises too. One of the saddles is slightly cross threaded, so I can't lower the e string saddle as low as I like. Brett wasn't aware of it, so I sent Paul an email.
Does anyone know how to remove the lower part of the saddle?

You'll have to remove the bridge on the 4 string basses to service the bridge saddles. I found that the slots of the bridge frame are tapered from the top down, so removal meant dropping the saddle assemblies out from the bottom.
Unscrew the bridge, remove the stainless bottom plate, then unscrew the intonation screw. You can then work at getting the saddle height screws undone, but you may need to drip in some penentrating oil and let sit a while if they're stuck.
