Jose, haha. My Waldera with Mick's wood combination is all ready ....with the Fretless neck.

Well, you have the serial, so shoot Paul an email to verify the bass.
Someone could have supplied their own wood for a build since during that perioid Pete was willfully doing it for folks.

Indeed the bass was shipped to Paul for full service early this year. They couldn't verify as they don't have any record of it. But the handwriting is definitely by Pete the fish. It's the same as my other 3 wals.

Sounds like a cash deal for Pete struck again. Seems a few folk ran across basses never logged. And a recent story someone posted on fb seemed to sort of explain that.... when Pete wanted a cash deal it wasn't going to be logged so he didnt have records and taxes and no receipt either.

I dont know what those facings look like either.

Listening to a great sound board recording of RUSH on their 1986 Power Windows tour. The recording is from The Spectrum in Philadelphia (my hometown though alas just slightly before my time). As noted in the tour book Geddy only took out his Wal bass and two Steinbergers. Sounds amazing!

Well, I was schooled in another thread that while Geddy recorded all of Power Windows with a Wal and he stated in the PW tour book that he was taking a Wal and two Steinbergers on the road, apparently he only ever used the Steinbergers live on that tour. I could swear that some of these live tracks sound like a Wal, but I guess not... Ah well, still a great recording of one of my favorite bands.

I have a question regarding ordering a Wal. Will Paul carve the neck to customers specs or is the neck a standard one size fits all? I received a 2014 Mk III five string I love everything about the bass, but the neck profile is a little thick and Iam experiencing some left hand pain. I figured I would ask here before I contact Philip or Paul as I know they are very busy.

He measures thickness at the 2nd fret. So if neck size is being an issue, definitely ask Paul and let him know what you're looking for.

My Mk2 5 neck is almost 23mm @2nd fret, and when he built my two Mk3 5's, I specified can't be that thick and would prefer ~2mm less.
Also while I like the prominent V on the 4 string necks, I went with very mild V on the 5's.

Question for you guys...love my 84 MKI i got a couple of months ago but started wondering about the Pro Basses. Im not getting rid of the MKI (unless I would get another of course) but I thought it would be cool to have a Wal with a more traditional preamp (boost/cut rather than a filter) For you guys with experience with both, how does a Pro Bass compare in sound? I know they are rare on the used market and financially Im not getting one in the near future, I was just wondering.
