Wal Bass Club.

@rogerbmiller @fauxtoe @dhagopian I can't stand the SWR seller either. I won't give the satisfaction of entertaining one of his sales. In my mind, he has one of the most irritating practices... Listing an item, reducing a little, then pulling the ad, relist at full price and repeat the process over-and-over. In my mind, it's like dangling a fish hook. As a buyer, I have more self-respect than deal with that practice. He hangs around the Alembic Forums too.

I know there are flippers (Reverb, TalkBass, etc.) and I generally have no problem with them. They simply found a better deal elsewhere and were able to purchase it before one of us.

At least with that Mk3, 'we' know what it looked like before and it still looks the same in his pics.

$7250 + $125 shipping = $7375
I hate paying sales tax on used basses, but since the buyer is in Oregon he's lucky there's no sales tax on it. If a WA buyer had done that, it would have pushed it to $8100.

Final price aside, I'm still shocked it was that "low" because, like it was pointed out by @TolerancEJ this guy dangles his nuts out there like a fish hook. I have several searches saved on Reverb and I've seen it exactly as he described over and over again. You can agree with that or not, but he's a total douche to deal with and anyone who has even dared to question him over anything found out quickly that it was a big mistake.

Yeah nothing wrong with what he's doing per se... I just didn't feel like making him money doing that. lol

And now Justin is playing his new Wal Mk2.

I wonder if he's cursing himself now for driving up his own prices? :D :p

It's 30 mos. now!
I was thinking about the wait time when Justin ordered his new MKII not the current time. I have a question for everyone who recently received a Wal, how long do you have after deposit before the specs on your bass have to be finalized? With the pound currently low I'm seriously thinking about sending a deposit before Paul does another price increase and doing the 30 month time. By the time the Wal is complete it will be a month after my 50th birthday no better present to celebrate a half century!

It is supposed to be finalized after 5 months from the date of deposit. I was undecided on hardware for a long time afterwards, but I think it's fine to change hardware as long as you don't switch from maple 4 string Mk2 to paduak 6 string Mk3 with unique fretboard inlays after he already has ordered the required material.

I highly doubt that :)

Did he order this one to have a spare one on stage?
Andy did he stop using his other Wal?

His old #1 was beat to a pulp and has lots of wear and damage.
I was told he wanted lighter Mk2, and that they really worked at nailing the tone of his main one. So I guess time will tell.

On Tuesday night I got to watch TOOL from the first row right in front of Justin. He played the new Mk 2 for the majority of the night, the old Mk 2 was next most present, the green/blue Mk 3 was used for The Pot and his Schedua Mk 2 was used for Parabol/Parabola. The show was great. The new bass sounds amazing. Justin and Danny were kind. I had small interactions with them during the VIP sound check and at the end of the show.

Sorry for two posts in a row. Just have to say that IngloriousOz is a pillar of the Wal community and a true gentleman. He single-handedly solved my jack problem I posted about a couple weeks ago. Thanks again Oz You're the man.

Happy to help! So many of the folks here have bailed me out with Wals or other rig issues so it was no problem.

If its helpful for anyone else down the road - my 1/4 jack was crackling badly and after a ton of elimination and troubleshooting it turned out to be a TINY crack in one of the ceramic switchcraft discs causing the issue. Changing that solved the problem immediately!
