I tried to this before and one way wouldnt work unless you shaved the neck pocket a bit....it was either using a Pro body with a Mk1 neck...or an Mk1 body with a Pro neck....I'm 70% sure a Pro neck didnt fit a Mk body.

I might have been lucky with the swap that I did, but it worked out well for me. Since there is no clear consensus I'd say, buyer beware. Although the neck seems to be a very good deal, for me, the price on that body with pickups is a little steep to take the risk.

wait, but you said you swapped mk 1 body and necks?? i've done that a plenty with no problems....just with Pro's to Mk's was as an issue....

these were the two i was trying to swap......i still can't remember definitively which way wouldn't work....but ya if i vaguely recall, i want to say i couldn't get the Pro neck to fit the Walnut Mk1 body. (trying to see if i took any pics and saved on the old hard drive)

here's an Mk1 swap i did temporarily once....swapped out a neck from my poly black mk1 with my fretless honduras mahogany.....both i no longer have any more

As my Wal is out for repair (neck to be re-planed so that will take a bit) I am now drooling over pics and videos and wishing I had another Wal sitting around that I could actually play!

Don't know if it will ever happen but if I *were* to get another one if would have to have an ebony board. They just look amazing. And yeah, that pic above isn't helping! Wowzers.

Its nearly brand new and still mint.
A new no-options bass is £7050, but this has birdseye, and ebony board, and upcharge black headstock hardware. I'm guessing on the low side it's £7900 loaded as-is.
Lets see, the absolute exchange rate is: 7,900GBP = 10,300.59USD
That's before any bank fees, shipping, and duty. So this would at or over $11,000 if ordered today.

Yes. But it is still a used bass. I don't compare it to new prices. But probably someone is wiling to pay it.

Les, it seems your stuck on the idea that used Wal prices don't inflate with the new Wal prices rising. grow with the times man! lol

every time any Wal goes on for sale over $6k you comment its overpriced - and low and behold it gets sold....please tell me when you decide to sell one of your Wals when you post it under $6k please (i've said this before too in previous post lol) :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

On a bass such as this being mint and nearly new... The reason folks do compare it to new price is because there is a 30 MONTH wait for Paul to build one. Might I remind you, also in two and a half years there will be two more price increases on new, so it's just going to get more expensive. Someone is going to save themselves ~$3500 dollars and 2.5 years' time buying this 'used' one.

Yes, I get it, its a massive chunk of cash. But one needs to also understand the traits of supply and demand.

Yes I think used Wals are overpriced I admit that. I am glad I already have three Wals. And yes if I ever sell one I also ask what I can ask according to the current used prices. But I never would pay that amount myself. It's a lot of cash. Nowadays Wals are only for the rich.

I think the market is largely driven by the time it takes Wal to build a new order, now 3 years which is frankly way too long.

If the queue time is three years to get a new order, that means that wal simply does not have the resources it needs to produce basses in a more reasonable timeframe which also means it’s production is quite limited relative to its demand. So time equals supply and demand in this equation. Then add to that the value of time and the fact that if you order a new one your money is tied up for three years with no instrument in hand.

All this does justify the secondhand market prices. But I agree they are very high.
