Friday noodling, me in my room recorded with phone
Lovely. You can really hear the way the tone almost blooms off a Wal.
Do you have a finished fingerboard? It’s very shiny.

It sounds great Jan!
Thanks Mike, that’s the ‘85 MK1 formerly known as a wenge facing, sent back to Wal HQ and had Paul put a new body (2015) on it and went over the whole bass, serviced electronics, leveled and refinished the neck, came back like a new bass, then I sent it to HG Thor to epoxy the fingerboard. It sounds great Jan!

Paid for the expedite. I decided to have the Thor epoxy done after a conversation with my late friend Walfretless5, I miss him very much, RIPWhat was the turn-around time on this job? I've heard that HG Thor's finish time is currently around that of Wal's.
Did he send you any pics yet of a completed neck? Thats the start of the home stretch. First you'll get a final shaped neck pic with no finish. This might be the 7 to 9 month point.
Then he'll send you a pic with both the neck and body before any finish applied (or if its a full satin, it might be a pic after being finished in satin). You're then about 2 to 5 months til its done.
I'm wondering if COVID has caused delays..
Of course covid has caused delays!
He had been working alone during covid, which is why new orders were starting to get quoted at 4+ years. And ultimately he stopped taking new orders until this back log can dwindle down to a better time.
I had to go back an re-read what you were asking at first. No he doesn't walk you through the build. Unless you change any options midway, you won't hear from him until the neck and body look like almost the finished bass.
You should post a pic of you playing it, so the world will know it will always be yours.Rehearsals? I won't even post a pic of mine here to get a number! Too paranoid?
