Hey, I love G&L’S but do agree Mike! Many years ago, I had an El Toro that emulated the Wal a bit… I still think the closest I used to get to a Wal tone when I didn’t own one was a Jazz Bass with the bridge pickup soloed with a heavy attack. I had to lay into it or it just didn’t get there.
Hey all, I've put enough play time in on the Mk2 over the weekend to determine that although I do like it, I don't like it enough to keep it. I'm really glued to my Mk1 and prefer it over the Mk2. The pickup spacing and string resistance feels a bit different to me, and for slapping, I prefer where my hand strikes the strings on the Mk1. If anybody is interested, please send me a PM. I'd be interested in a Mk1 in a trade or cash sale. - Joe
Personally I wouldn’t sell it yet. You only have it one week, so give it more time. You might regret it later. See it as two different basses. You already have a MK1, so trading it for another MK1 will give you two the same basses.
What do mean by string resistance? A 24 fret bass has a bit more tight strings in general. But you can change to a 100-40 string set to get the same tension.
And what is different in the pickup spacing?

String resistance is different? The scale length is the same. I’d have thought the Mk2 would be as much of a muchness to a Mk1, just different ergonomics. Hmmm…
In that case, maybe just different strings? Or probably the neck is setup different. A slight truss rod adjustment can make a big difference. Also I think the pickup spacing of an mk2 is the same as an mk1? Not sure about that.
I know how to set up my instruments… I was born at night, but not last night. The pickup spacing on the neck pickup is in fact different due to the body style. See attached

Long story short, I prefer my hand placement on the Mk1 especially for slapping I use more room to get underneath the strings and the string tension feels better to me based on where I prefer to play. Thanks all!
Thanks for the picture! Seems like the pickups on the mk1 are a spaced few millimeters more apart? Hard to see. Off course because of the body style and the 24 fret neck there is less space between the neck pickup and the neck. But still plenty of room for slapping.
If I would live close to you I might consider a swap for my mk1, since I like a 24 fret neck. But I won’t do it if I never played a mk2

If you buy from the Bass Gallery directly it comes out to$13,785 USD still not cheap! It seems many people don’t like the blocks I like them just not enough to order on my upcoming build.

I'm in the US and purchased a used one from them earlier in the year and yes the customs fee will bite you!!
