Warwick Fortress Footmen, unite!

If it looks like I missed a member, it'd because Blankandson hasn't played his fortress yet and won't anytime soon from what I can tell.

@rogerbmiller: did you ever turn up a source for the brass just-a-nut?

Hi there. I DID locate a source for brass justanuts, however the only offering on their website is the entire unite-- nut and screw slots. I just need the screw slots. I inquired with them and never heard back :(

Thanks for asking. If you have any other ideas, I am all ears!

Current Fortress holdings update BTW-- 2 unlined fretless MM 4 strings, an MM fretted 4 string, and a Trans Teal Flashback 4 string.

I'd bet a large, well-stocked hardware store would have set screws AKA grub screws that would fit the nut sockets. You'd have to file the string slots in, which would be a PITA, but at least then you're only spending elbow grease on some 10-cent parts, rather than buying a whole nut assembly.

Great idea, thanks! I have a digital caliper so if I were to measure (as these are likeyly a metric size) do you have any idea if I would measure the body or the "head" of the screw? Thanks!

I've owned an active corvette, a streamer jazzman, a streamer pro m, and 2 fortresses. a fortress one, and a flashback. the fortresses are the only ones that were keepers for me. I love the balance, the tone, the look, and I love the weight on the fortress one. the flashback is a beast weight wise, but sooo worth the extra work for the passive tones that come out of that thing. I love my fortresses. :)

There ARE Fortresses without the 2tek bridge, and they are light as heck. But IMO the extra body weight is worth it for the PERFECT balance - my flashback's neck actually has REVERSE neckdive!

:) Forgot to mention that. Definitely a benefit IMO.

First time I strapped it on almost got knocked out by the headstock. :) Bodydive!

I'd measure the outside edge of the threads, as that would be most likely to "read" the same between correct screw diameters. The other thing is the pitch of the threading, so if at all possible I'd bring one of the existing screw slot pieces with me and closely eyeball its threads against the available set screws.

This is my fortress one.

I saw this bass on ebay several times - didn't bid because the price was on the high side, and the seller failed to provide good photos when I asked for them. So there's so cosmetic damage. It actually doesn't look as bad as the pictures in the auction made it look - the seller told me that the bass was brown/purple - say WHAT?

If you're unhappy with the bass, you should return it. But at least I bet those Duncan pickups sound great!
