Was there any good punk rock?

Punk was (and is) both inevitable and necessary. It revels in the sneering disapproval of the established order. It's beyond judgement. It's bewildering and brilliant.
I have no idea to what you are referring. I said 5 things in my post. I am going to have to consider this as somewhat meaningless trolling.
Ha. Got into punk when I pushed my dreads up under my hat and went to see the Ramones. In those pre moshpit days the crowd was being pushed 10-20 metres side to side, people were getting the snot beaten out of them all around me, and the Ramones looked scared as poopie. But they kept playing. Security didn't want to know cept for one old Samoan bouncer right in the middle jumping up and down having the time of his life. Had to admit punk wasn't just the silly pose I'd always assumed it to be.
Which don't answer the question quite like listing the Ruts, the Jam, Bad Brains, Wire, early Police, Stiff Little Fingers, Elvis Costello, Suicidal Tendencies, Gang of Four, et al. I'd already gotten into funk, reggae (obviously), and fusion by that time but I found plenty to interest me in those stripped down song structures.
I got out of punk to give my daughter room to have her own Papa Roach, No Means No, NoFX, Pennywise thing without her dad being all up in it.

You got yours, bro. If you can't do punk without crunchy guitars then fair enough. Personally, I'd give all that anger a pass.
The best new punk rock is being created in YOUR neighborhood in somebody’s bedroom/garage/barn/basement/cellar/tuff shed right now as I type this. Go find them.

Define good. It was pertinent to the time and spoke to a time, a time when corporate rock was buying the soul of what hippies created. There were bands that broke new ground, isn’t that what art is supposed to do?
Good from a technical standpoint, no.
Same argument might be made for grunge. From a painting standpoint, question could be asked as it applies to Jackson Pollack.

Please know that my comment wasn't directly aimed at you, Elvis' name has popped up a few times.
My comment was more about how Elvis was marketed as punk and Petty and The Cars were marketed as new wave.
Randy Neuman had angry songs, I don't think he's punk.

Hard core punk wasn't my jam, as the term goes today. Blondie was punk, right? I didn't mind that. I didn't give a moment's time to the spitters and screamers. I understand the revolution of it all but I was sure glad when punk AND grunge were old hat.
Hahaha, I haven't heard anyone say "my jam" since the 90s. The rest of your post is, well, as out of touch as it's first sentence.
I’m pretty certain that countless numbers of bands and artists would rightfully credit Punk as being an influence on their personal art and/or genre. It doesn’t matter if anyone likes it, just do the research. Actually, the Ramones have probably influenced more bands than anyone can imagine.
As an aside, one of the highlights of my life in music was opening for the Ramones in 1988. Seriously, they were some of the nicest and most humble musicians I ever met.
