So far the watch wearers have all had very nice watches that I would happily wear. I’ve just always been “into” watches. I can personally testify that just like GAS there IS such a thing as WAS (Watch Acquisition Syndrome).

Don't get me wrong, the Speedy is an absolute classic! I just found it amusing that your post coincided so directly with my thoughts on the matter.

As a fellow WIS, I'm also aware of the relative value of the Speedmaster compared to other luxury watches, so no need to justify it! I'd probably have one myself if I didn't think I'd find some stupid way to break it. :p

Rob Peter to pay Paul. I've sold watches to finance basses or SCUBA equipment. Or sold a bass to put $$ toward a watch and every other combination you can think of. Boys and their toys.:D

I wear it all the time, and I guess I’ve had this one for about 20 years. If I happen to forget it, I feel naked.

I’ve been wearing a watch since I was a kid.

I just can’t do the cell phone time thing.

I am always on time, and on time is ten minutes early. Seriously.

I used to be around magnetic fields a good bit so I never wore a decent watch at work...

I'd hit TG&Y type stores and such... They always had the five dollar cheap lcd with the swimmer on the face.... I'd wear it until the battery died and just buy another...

Now I usually wear Iron Man, Expedition, etc., type cheap LCD watches with velcro band... I have several nice watches but just don't wear em much anymore...

I wouldn't THINK of depending on a phone to keep time. Terribly inconvenient to fish a phone out of my pocket, and time setting can vary by connectivity. And when I'm on a plane with my phone off, the watch is my buddy.

I've a Tissot dive watch on my wrist almost constantly since 1971. I still have that watch, a T12 Seastar. My current watch is a PRS200.

T12 - note the rotating bezel inside the crystal. Mine has been cleaned and serviced three times since 1971 and works great. It's a self-winder.

PRS 200 - great watch, had mine 10+ years now...and I keep it set within 10 seconds of precise time, using the US NIST website to sync: The Official NIST US Time:

Tissot has been fantastic for me. I has a Seiko for a few years but it simply wore out, to the point where the crown just pulled out of the watch.

But the Tissots just keep working beautifully.

Just a cheap pot metal band LCD watch that had the swimmer outline printed on the genuine plastic crystal... ;)

Letters for days of week across top with a hash underneath... Did very little but digital is digital, kept time... A bud of mine did flea markets and he'd buy the movement and band/case for about $0.25 ea part and sell em for a few bucks.... He'd watch tv and assemble watches... a few bucks for a watch he had a bit over 50cents each in with shipping, he'd make him some gas money... He told me that was just a cheap generic lcd 'movement' that many cheap watch companies used for theirs...doing the same thing he was doing...

I remember one that was neither round nor square, but sort of in between as far as the case shape. I think it was sort of an imitation of a 1980s Casio digital dive watch. I wish I had bought some of the cheap vintage digitals. I would love to just see the pictures now.
