Weird obscure bands you like??

Harry Fleishman (RIP) turned me on to this band (which he was an original member of) during an extended correspondence pertaining to the repair of a Fleishman Bassic IV that I own. That model was designed for Bob Drake, bass player of the band. What a kind and talented person he was.

Back in the late 70s there were a number of bands that seemed quirky at the time. I was listening to some bands that never made it big commercially, like 999, the Undertones, the Vapors, Aldo Nova, Off Broadway, the Revillos, Anthrax, Lena Lovich, Gang of Four, etc. Then there were those that later had commercial success like the Clash, the Ramones, Billy Idol, Psychedelic Furs, the Jam, X, etc. They all seemed quirky at the time, just some were able to transition to popular music, and some weren’t.
Both Worlds, from Baltimore, MD. Active about 1975 to 1980.
Not weird, but obscure except that they developed a cult following after disbanding.
These guys were bad. They just let it rip. Live it was loud enough to peel the paint off the walls.
This album is from 1977. This recording is the entire album. It was ripped from vinyl, so audio bandwidth is limited by modern standards. For best experience listen on a good playback system. Hope you enjoy!

My ballpark era is the 70s-80-s there's well known bands but one i'd put as obsucre is Chrome, great guitar work. My overal standard is bands where I forgot how I discovered them!

Currently one of my favorites who just happen to be local. I know all these guys, really great people and musicians. Some of you guys might recognize the guitar player. Second song features 2 basses!
Cheesy synths, drum machines and twangy guitars…they sold ad space on their record, embraced and presented sexual ambiguity and was out loud and forward about being a total fabrication, they were a joke but serious about being a joke so art rock in a more consumable Warhol kinda thing
Wishbone Ash, back when I was a kid in the Pleistocene '70's.
I was a huge Ian Hunter fan, and a big Mott the Hoople fan.

Wet Willie. Another 'southern rock' band on Phil Walden's Capricorn label, Jimmy Hall (his brother Jack playing great bass) and these guys were a Mobile AL-bred terrific blend of soul and R+B that to me never got the credit due them. Jimmy was a terrific front man, singer, harp and sax player, and the band was the Red Hot Chicken.
About a year ago we saw Alejandro Escovedo with guests Mitch Easter, Charlie Sexton and Creamer playing Mott album end to end and a 2nd set of other MTH songs. Was a blast.
